“Since 2013, we’ve had the privilege of bringing fans nine editions of Boston Calling, featuring hundreds of acts: from world-renowned superstars to Grammy winners and nominees, to local artists on the rise. We love the artists that have been assembled for 2019 and look forward to welcoming back many of our favorites from past editions. With each Boston Calling, we aim to bring the festival to greater heights and this year is no exception,” said Boston Calling Events, LLC (BCE), Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Brian Appel in a statement.
This year’s lineup also includes Hozier, Lord Huron, Sheck Wes and Christine and the Queens, plus Boston bands like alt-rock favourites Guster, indie-rock band Pile and Clairo, the 2018 Boston Music Awards Pop Artist of the Year. It’s also pop singer Marina’s first live date for the year so far. Boston comedians Sam Jay and Lamont Price will perform in the comedy tent while Imogen Heap, the English singer-songwriter will give a special spoken word performance featuring her cutting-edge Mi.Mu gloves that produce sound by capturing move and hand gesture. Michael Che, Jenny Slate, and Fred Armisen will perform at the indoor comedy stage so there is a fun for everyone.
The festival debuted in 2013 and was held twice a year at City Hall Plaza in Boston. In 2016, Boston Calling moved to Harvard Athletic Complex and the new space enabled more stages than before and the implementation of stand-up comedians. The festival is a success each year with some of the top-class musicians as headliners including Eminem, The Killers, Jack White, Lorde and Sia.
