Super Bowl XLVI Tickets
Indianapolis will be hosting Super Bowl XLVI, the 46th annual edition of the Super Bowl in American Football and the 42nd annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL). The event would be on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
This will be the first time that the Super Bowl will be held in that city and also the first time to be played in a retractable roof stadium. Indianapolis is a fairly cold city so viewers are advised to take jackets and mittens with them. Despite the weather, Indianapolis is very sure that they will throw one heck of a party.
Indianapolis is currently preparing for the Super Bowl which is two months away and they are making sure that they will give the good old-fashioned Hoosier hospitality.
“We’re Hoosiers and we’re very friendly people. We’re very welcoming people. The sense of excitement and the understanding of the international spotlight that this brings are definitely here,” Diana L. Boyce, Director of Communications for the Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee said.
They have not only prepped up the venue, but they have also prepared the surroundings so that every fans and visitors will have a comfortable and enjoying time outside the 3-year-old retro-style brick exterior Lucas Oil Stadium which seats 70,000 people. Downtown Indianapolis is clean, safe and easy to negotiate by foot. The skywalks connect12 hotels and 4,700 rooms to the Indiana Convention Center and also to the Circle Centre mall. All in all there will be 7,100 hotel rooms and 18,300 rooms within a 45-mile radius.
There will also be festivities on Georgia St. that will be called the Super Bowl Village, located two blocks from the stadium. For 10 days there will be a three-block-long festival where visitors and Football fans can buy their Super Bowl memorabilia.
Aside from that, there will also be outdoor vendors, warming stations, and for the amusement of the very bored, a 600-foot zipline suspended 80 feet above street level. There will also be entertainment provided by more than 80 local, regional and national bands that will perform on two stages. And for the Super Bowl halftime show, Madonna was chosen as the performer. M.I.A and Nicki Minaj has been chosen to perform as well. All three are performing on Madonna’s upcoming single “Gimme All Your Luvin.”
There are other places to visit as well, like the White River State Park, the Indianapolis Zoo, Military Park, the Indiana State Capitol, and the NCAA Hall of Champions. The Super Bowl management has more than 8,000 volunteers wearing blue and white scarves needed by those who are in dire need of help and directions.
“I think the city has done what it needed to do to get a Super Bowl. The stadium is beautiful, the city is clean. It’s safe and it’s nice downtown. There are a lot of things for people to do here. The city has done a great job building things and putting things together for the Super Bowl. I think it’ll be a big success,” former Wisconsin quarterback Jim Sorgi said.
