9th April 2009 | Category: Sports | Tags:

Everyone loves baseball, and with good reason. The games, unlike what you might think, can become highly exciting, and the fans literally go wild at a great play.

Begun more than a century ago, Major League Baseball has risen to become not only the favorite sport of many Americans, but also a lucrative one for the teams owners.

Major League, the highest level possible in professional baseball currently has about thirty teams in play. There are 29 in the United States, while one operates in Canada.
The games usually begin the first week in April run over the summer months with the playoffs being October or once in a while early parts of November.

Major League Baseball games see a following of die hard fans, who will view the games on television, make their way to the ball games even in the worst weather and spend the entire summer living, eating and sleeping baseball.

Every baseball season is made up of about 162 games (with additional games as necessary for tiebreakers.)so you’ve got ample time to get out in the sunshine and watch your favorite game and root your favorite team home to victory, hoping against hope that they make their way to the World Series later in the year.

My personal favorites, and we’ve all got them, don’t we, the long standing favorite teams that we follow through good or for ill, are the Pirates, The DiamondBacks (Arizona) and the Blue Jays (Toronto). I don’t know about you, but I’m not waiting til the last minute to get my tickets and hope the game I want to see isn’t sold out.

Manny Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton – Who’s Coming Out on Top

19th March 2009 | Category: Las Vegas,Sports | Tags: ,

Live from Las Vegas, under the tutelage of Floyd Mayweather Sr, who trains Hatton in Manchester, Hatton says he’s progressed dramatically, and Sporting Life of the UK says that Hatton boasts that Manny is in for a real shock the night of the fight. Pacquiao says he’s a whole different fighter than he was, “faster, stronger and more tactical.”

The Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, which is currently hosting the training of Pacquiao is silent, apparently Manny isn’t ready to boast on his skills yet, but according to those in the know, it’s just his second week for taking part in training and he’s got some fantastic form, and apparently knocked down his sparring partner, Art Hovhannesyan in the second round of play, causing an upper eyelid cut in the fourth round on Wednesday.

His strength and conditioning trainer, Alex Ariza said to ABS-CBNm, that he is going to shock everybody at how strong he is at 140 pounds.”

If we run over and ask Pacquiao, however, he’s pretty well convinced that his speed is whats going to gain him the victory in the head to head with Hatton but Pacquiao does add, humbly we think, that there’s a great deal more he needs to do before he thinks hes in tip top shape?

And what do YOU think? We personally think its well worth your time to get your tickets early for the Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton bout in Vegas. When they’re gone, they’re gone.

Super Bowl XLIII: Pittsburgh Steelers VS Arizona Cardinals

19th January 2009 | Category: Sports | Tags: , ,

There is much joy in Steel City this evening as the Pittsburgh Steelers out ran and out hit the Ravens, in a defensive game that was reminiscent of the old Steel Curtain days in Pittsburgh.

The Steelers ended the evening by beating Baltimore 23 to 14, and ending any hopes they may have had for a Super Bowl Sunday for this year at least.

Two weeks from now, Pittsburgh will meet the Arizona Cardinals head on in the Super Bowl in Tampa.

You absolutely have to love the irony of the match. Tomlin head to head with Whisenhunt, who was of course the offensive coordinator back when the Steelers won the last Super Bowl, who went with Arizona after he was passed by for the job at Pittsburgh.

Whisenhunt left, along with his aide de camp, Russ Grimm, when Tomlin was hired, which happened somewhat unexpectedly.

Pittsburgh will now head for their day in the sun.. Tampa sun that is, for their shot at the Super Bowl, but can they get the win?

The only teams so far who have won five Super Bowls are the “niners” or the 49ers, Dallas and the Steelers. Pittsburgh would be the first team to be six time winners, and at thirty something, Tomlin will be, if his team pulls it off, the youngest coach to ever head up a Super Bowl Team.

All in all it looks to be one of the most exciting games in years.

Are you going to be there?? Not if you don’t grab those tickets now you’re not. Pittsburgh is notorious for game sellouts. The Super Bowl won’t be any exception.
