On December 4th, 1956, in a Rock-N-Roll flash that is so unreal you would swear that it was scripted for a movie, Musical superstars such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash as well as Carl Perkins came together one afternoon for a spontaneous jam session at the Sun Record Studios located in Memphis.

It was a moment in time that should have never happened.  Johnny Cash had stopped by the studio in order to listen to Carl Perkin’s recording session ( or to pick up a check, depending on what version of this story you are to believe), Elvis Presley who had previously recorded for Sun Record but now recorded with RCA,  and Jerry Lee Lewis was considered to be a relatively unknown performer was there only to provide some piano pizzazz on Carl’s recording.

It was the ultimate one in a million chance that these four superstars would meet and become the ultimate Million Dollar Quartet, for just a few hours anyways.

More than fifty years later, this unbelievable moment in time has been musically brought to the stage in this hit Broadway show “Million Dollar Quartet” that is now playing at Harrahs Las Vegas.

After the West End Musical Production of the show Matilda garnered an amazing number of Olivier Awards, the Broadway production of the same musical also received twelve Tony nominations, winning four out of the twelve, which included Best Book as well as the Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical.  With all of this production also won a Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre award.

The classic children’s story that was written by Roald Dahl that is about a very intelligent young girl who has the most astonishing powers comes to life on stage as Matilda rebels against her very unbearable, overbearing parents as well as that sinister headmistress at her boarding school.

Matilda is inspired by the very twisted genius of Roald Dahl, with the original songs from the comedian Tim Minchin and the book by Dennis Kelly.  Matilda is the very fascinating new musical work of genius from the Royal Shakespeare Company that revels in the power of imagination, the chaos of childhood, as well as the ultimately inspirational story of a young girl who eventually dares to change her own destiny.

Do not miss your chance to see this amazing show that has won a record breaking seven Olivier Awards in the year of 2012 in London.  This Broadway production has also won a total of five Best Musical Awards since it has first opened as well as receiving five star reviews across the board.
