Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
We have great news for you if you are a fan of Harry Potter movies and books.
A stage play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Son, officially opened on Broadway this April at the Lyric Theatre so don’t waste any time, buy your tickets here, and check what happened to your favorite wizards.
A two-part stage play was written by Jack Thorne, John Tiffany and J. K. Rowling and the previews began in 2016 at the Palace Theatre in London. On 22 April, it officially opened at the Lyric Theatre on Broadway with actors Anthony Boyle, Sam Clemmett, Noma Dumezweni, Poppi Miller and many others.
The Lyric Theatre is a great place for the huge debut of the play since it was recently renovated and its elaborate wing and nest interior has already taken over the Great White Way. Great place to catch up with middle aged Harry, Hermione and Ron as well as the second generation.
The story begins nineteen years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Harry Potter is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and a father of three school-age children.
His younger son, Albus Severus Potter is about to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and he must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. Named after Harry’s two dead Hogwarts heroes, Dumbledore and Snape, the boy buckles most under the shadow of his famous father to whom he cannot connect as a son. Harry is also living in his own shadow, taking orders from the adult Hermione in the Ministry.
The past refuses to stay where it belongs and father and son must unite in their fight. They learn the uncomfortable truth that darkness comes from the most unexpected places.
The play is amazing and definitely worth seeing according to critics. At the 2017 Laurence Olivier Awards, the London production received a record-breaking eleven nominations and an again record-breaking nine awards including, Best New Play, Best Actor, Best Actor in Supporting Role, Best Actress in Supporting Role and Best Director. Since the cast remained pretty much the same, we have high expectations from the Broadway production.
We are glad this show, full of magic, is finally hitting Broadway so don’t miss it and purchase your tickets here.
