If you are a fan of Captain America, don’t miss Chris Evans’s debut on Broadway as Lobby Hero is coming on March 1.

It will be the first show both for Second Stage Theatre’s inaugural Broadway season and the opening of New York’s city newly renovated Hayes Theater. Performances of the play begin on 1 March with an opening night scheduled for 26 March. Don’t miss our favorite action hero on the stage for the first time.

Chris Evans, 36, debuts in this play by an Oscar-winning screenwriter and playwright Kenneth Lonergan. Alongside Michael Cera, Bel Powley and Brian Tyree Henry, Chris will portray what happens when emotions come in conflict with principles and how choices under pressure define who we really are.

Directed by Trip Cullman, Lobby Hero follows a security guard, his strict supervisor, a rookie cop and her overbearing partner. The setting is in the foyer of Manhattan building in the middle of the night and a murder investigation underway. You will be completely absorbed in the actors’ performance, witnessing what happens when personal and professional people find themselves at odds.

The play first premiered Off-Broadway in 2001 at Playwrights Horizons, with Tate Donovan and Heather Burns as lead roles. This revival was announced last year and we simply can’t wait to see it.

Tickets for all dates can be purchased here.

Second Stage also announced that its first Broadway season will follow with Straight White Men, opening in July 2018, directed by Anna D. Shapiro. This will mark the first time a play written by an Asian woman has been produced on Broadway.  Torch Song, Mary Page Marlowe and other contemporary works are scheduled for June 2018. The ambitious commissioning program emphasizes Second Stage’s mission to make the intimate Hayes Theatre, a 104-year-old building newly renovated, a permanent home on Broadway for American plays.

Join the princess of Arendelle, Elsa and her playful younger sister Anna in this musical from Disney Theatrical. This full-length stage work told in two acts is the first and only incarnation of the famous tale from the 2013 animated movie. The stage adaptation was in the works since 2014 but all great things take a lot of time. We are glad Frozen is finally here and can’t wait to see it!

Frozen will officially open on 22 March on Broadway but if you are impatient to see it as soon as possible, previews have already started. The show premiered last year in Denver Center for the Performing Arts and received fantastic critics.

Broadway veterans, Caissie Levy and Patti Murin are starring as famous sisters Elsa and Anna on their epic adventure. Jelani Alladin as Kristoff, Greg Hildreth as Olaf, John Riddle as Hans and many others join them on the stage in this magical adaptation.

This timeless tale of two sisters, pulled apart by a mysterious secret, will simply melt your heart. One sister struggles to find her voice and harness the power within while the other embarks on an epic journey to bring her family back together. Both sisters are searching for love so come and witness their quest and final reunion.

Jennifer Lee wrote the screen play while Oscar-winning team Kristen Anderson-Lopea and Robert Lopez worked on the music since this stage production features more than twice as much music as the film. Tony winner Rob Ashford worked on choreography and the play was directed by Tony winner Michael Grandage. The design team consists of two Tony winners, Christopher Oram – scenic and costume design, Natasha Katz – lightning design, and two Tony nominees, Dave Metzger – orchestrations and Stephen Oremus – music supervision and arrangements.

Considering the expertise of the team carefully gathered by Disney Theatrical, we can expect the bigger success than the animated film had achieved.

School of Rock Renews its Cast Members

The world-wide smash hit musical, School of Rock, has welcomed seven new cast members to the class this January. This rock Musical, based on the 2003 movie by the same name is a must-see, so don’t waste your time and purchase your tickets right now.

Rocking their way onto the Broadway stage are young talented stars Montgomery Lamb as Katie, Jim Kaplan as Lawrence, Sarah Walsh as Marcy, Iggy Rosado as Mason, Madison Elizabeth Lagares as Shonelle and Katie Greendorfer as Madison. The new cast members were welcomed on 30 January since the longtime stars graduated from Horace Green Prep on 29 January.

The musical features music by Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Glenn Slater and a book by Julian Fellowes. Mike White wrote the screenplay, and after stage concerts held at the Gramercy Theatre in Manhattan promoting the play in June 2015, the musical debuted at the Winter Garden Theatre in December 2015.

The movie earned $131 million in box office worldwide with Dewey Finn as the central character. In the musical, focus is more on the students. The musical debuted on Broadway rather than in London’s West End due to more relaxed child labor laws in the United States.

The musical follows a failed wannabe rock star who pretends to be a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school.

After recognizing the musical talent in his students, he forms a band of fifth-graders in an attempt to win the upcoming Battle of the Bands contest. On his journey of turning straight A-list students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping rock band, he falls in love with the headmistress and tries to help her discover the wild child within herself. Don’t miss this mind-blowing plot and fantastic music and purchase your tickets right here.

The play features choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter, scenic and costume design by Anna Louizos, lightning design by Natasha Katz and sound design by Mick Potter. The US tour started on 30 September, 2017 so visit our ticket page and just pick a city nearest to you.

Denzel Washington and Tammy Blanchard on Broadway’s Iceman Cometh

26th January 2018 | Category: Theater

Great news guys!

Two great actors from the big screen return to Broadway in spring for the revival of Eugene O’Neil classic work “The Iceman Cometh”. Five-time Tony winner George C. Wolfe will direct the production scheduled to begin previews on 22 March and open on 26 April at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.

Tickets for all dates can be bought here.

Denzel Washington, the two-time Oscar winner, will play the lead role of Theodore Hickman known as Hickey, a charming travelling salesman. This poetic drama will unfold in a Manhattan saloon when Hickey, himself deeply conflicted, passionately encourages fellow alcoholics to abandon their pipe dreams and take hold of harsh reality.

Denzel Washington appeared on Broadway several times since his debut in “Checkmates” in 1988. He starred in “Fences” in 2010, winning a Tony Award and in “A Raisin in the Sun” in 2014.

The two-time Tony nominee and Emmy winner Tammy Blanchard has been recently casted and picked for the role of Cora. She earned her Tony nominations for her roles as Louise in the 2003 revival of “Gypsy” and Hedy La Rue in 2011 production of “How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying”. Her most successful roles on the screen are as Florinda in “Into the Woods” and as Judy in “Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows”

“The Iceman Cometh” is described as a “masterwork” and “the greatest American playwright” by critics and we can freely say that Eugene O’Neill’s tragic vision remains undiminished by time. The latest revival of the play was in 1999 when Kevin Spacey played Hickey and we simply can’t wait to see Denzel in this high demanding role. The play will be produced by Scott Rudin who produced “Fences” and “Shuffle Along”.

Since George C. Wolfe staged last season’s successes “Shuffle Along”, “Or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921” and “All that Followed”, and now directs the revival with such a great cast, this 14-week run is expected to hit the roof both with numbers in box office and critics.

Don’t miss the opportunity to watch the Tony and Oscar winners in theatre and purchase your tickets right away.

Waitress Becomes First Ever All Female-Organized Broadway Show

26th December 2017 | Category: Theater

Grammy-winning singer and songwriter, Jason Mraz, will make his debut on Broadway in the hit comedy musical Waitress along with the Jessie Mueller, Eric Anderson, Kimiko Glenn and give the play a dash of fresh wind in the early 2018.

Don’t miss out this fun, love story that will entertain you during the festive season and buy your tickets here.

The musical is based on the 2007 indie film of late Adrienne Shelly that grossed $1,9 million domestically. The story revolves around a waitress Jenna, trapped in an abusive marriage and looking for a happy ending. When she unexpectedly becomes pregnant, she begins an affair with her gynecologist, Dr. Jim Pomatter, stared by Jason Mraz.

She enters a pie contest and sees a grand prize as a way out of her impossible situation. Jenna must find the strength and courage to rebuild her own life so this is not just a story of finding your prince charming but about woman who has to take action and discover her worth.

Waitress made its Broadway debut in April, 2016 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. The U.S. national tour began on 20, October, 2017 and will continue until November 2018.

Tickets for all shows can be found here.

The play features original music and lyrics by a 6-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles, a book by acclaimed screenwriter Jessie Nelson, direction by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus and choreography by the team’s new addition, Lorin Latarro so this play became the first-ever Broadway musical with an all-female creative team!

This is a historic and long overdue moment for Broadway and all members of the team are happy to be working with such passionate and inspiring women. Women in one creative role, let alone four, are still very rare on Broadway.

Over the last 41 seasons of Broadway musicals, only 1 in 10 directors, authors or composers were female. But women strive to change that over the last years. In 1998, Julie Taymor and Gerry Hynes became the first women to win two directing Tony Awards. Diane Paulus won Tony in 2013 and last year was the first an all-female composer-lyrics duo, Lis Kron and Jeanine Tesori, won the Tony. So women are definitely changing the practice on Brodway. Don’t miss out this first all-female creative team musical and get your tickets here.
