Blink-182 Announced Las Vegas Residency
Great news for all alt-rock fans since Blink-182 has announced plans to launch the “Kings of the Weekend” residency at the Pearl Concert Theater of the Palms Casino Resort.
Don’t miss to see this famous band if you’re going to Vegas.
Blink-182 seems to be following the tradition of Bruno Mars, Britney Spears, Pitbull, Cher and Lady Gaga who had their residencies in Vegas that proved quite successful. The performances will began 26 May and run on selected weekends until 17 November. Blink-182’s first-ever residency at the same time represents the resort’s first major entertainment collaboration as part of its recently announced $620 million property-wide overhaul.
“Kings of the Weekend” will bring to life their biggest hits, inappropriate tales about love, death, drugs and divorce. Mark Hoppus, vocals and bass, Travis Barker, drums and Matt Skiba, guitar, are thrilled to set off on this journey. When Palms asked them to do the residency they said absolutely and even joked about marrying someone on stage because possibilities in Vegas are limitless.
“Now, we just have to cast our showgirls, create our set list – a true throwback of Vegas classics with Sinatra, Liberace. Maybe we can even marry someone onstage… “
The veteran pop-funk outfit will perform their hit songs from across the band’s 25-year career as well as songs from their 2016 album “California”. Their latest release became their first album in 15 years that reached No 1 on the Billboard 200 and the second in their career.
The lead single “Bored to Death” became the group’s number one single in 12 years. “California” earned them the first Grammy nomination for the Best Rock Album.
The band is considered a key group in the development of pop punk. They combine pop music melodies with fast-paced punk rock. They have been described as alternative pop and mix of arena rock, hip-hop and indie rock. The trio sold over 13 million albums in the US and over 50 million all over the world and will most definitely put on quite a show.
