Diana Ross Added to Jazz Festival 2019 Lineup
The annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary and the supreme diva Diana Ross has just joined the already amazing lineup. The festival returns to Fair Grounds Race Course on Thursday 25 April to Sunday 28 April and on Thursday 2 May to Sunday 5 May and both weekends are full of both Jazz Fest veterans and new artist joining the party. The veterans like Germaine Bazzle, Ellis Marsalis, James Rivers, Little Freddie King, Johnny Vidacovich, George French will perform at the festival followed by speeches from event organizers, the foundation, the city’s Mayor Cantrell, Vice President of Shell, and more. Rolling Stones will headline the event on 2 May and the tickets for that day will be sold separately as a part of their No Filter U.S. stadium tour that starts in April.

Katy Perry will join the list of other female performers including Alanis Morissette, Gladys Knight, Bonnie Raitt and Chaka Khan but the most anticipated performance of the festival is definitely the one of a Diamond Diva, Diana Ross. The megastar is celebrating her 75th birthday and has joined this year’s lineup giving it a supreme addition for its 50th anniversary. Ross will perform on 4 May and perform many of her timeless hits. She first became famous as a lead singer in the Supremes, and made the group one of the most successful female groups of all time and then made a solo career with 18 No 1 singles.
During the press conference, the organizers of the festival have announced that there will be over 20 tributes to the city’s ancestors, including legends like Louis Armstrong, Professor Longhair, Aretha Franklin, Fats Domino, Jelly Roll Morton, Mahalia Jackson, James Booker, Allen Toussaint, and more.
