Johnny Depp to Join Most of Jeff Beck’s North American Tour Dates
Johnny Depp is set to join Jeff Beck for the majority of the guitarist’s upcoming North American tour.
The news follows the release of the pair’s joint album, 18, which arrived on July 15th.
The dates were announced earlier this month, but Depp’s involvement wasn’t revealed at the time. The actor-musician will be joining Beck on the road beginning October 4th in Washington, D.C., and will remain on the outing through its closing date of November 12th in Reno, Nevada.
Prior to Depp joining the tour, Beck will play a handful of late September shows supporting ZZ Top, as well as one headlining gig in Atlanta on October 1st.
Depp and Beck have teamed up on various behind-the-scenes projects for several years. Back in 2020, the pair released a cover of John Lennon‘s ‘Isolation’, marking their first official release together.
Following reports they were working on new music together, Depp – who, at the time, was waiting for the verdict in his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard – appeared on stage alongside Beck at a gig in Sheffield on May 29, 2021, performing covers of Lennon, Marvin Gaye and Jimi Hendrix. The duo then appeared together for the second time at London’s Royal Albert Hall two nights later.
On one of the Depp originals, “Sad Motherfuckin’ Parade,” the actor was accused of lifting lyrics from an old poem titled “Hobo Ben.” The record label responded by stating, “If appropriate, additional copyright credits will be added to all forms of the album.”
