Justin Bieber’s Fans Beg Star to Cancel UK Tour
Since May 22 saw an explosion at Ariana Grande’s Manchester Arena concert leaving 22 dead and 59 wounded, Bieber’s fans are worried for his safety ahead of his arrival to UK.
Bieber is set for a concert in Cardiff on June 30 and in London July 2, as a part of his “Purpose” tour but fans flooded social media saying his appearance should be axed for both the safety of fans and the singer himself.
The “Purpose” is his third worldwide tour which started on March 9, 2016 in Seattle and will end in September 24, 2017 in Tokyo.
His fans, often referred to as Beliebers, pleaded Justin’s manager Scooter Braun, who also manages Ariana Grande, to stop the 23-year-old Canadian star from crossing the Atlantic.
“For security reasons, cancel Justin’s show in the UK, I beg you, with all my heart, please,” tweeted one worried Belieber.
“We know Justin wants to give his best to fans, but now the best is he stay safe,” another one said.
Although fans have been going crazy on social networks for a while, urging the singer to scrap his British tour dates out of fear of being targeted in another terrorist attack, his manager refused to cancel the UK tour. Tickets for the UK events can be purchased here. Braun expressed his condolences and asked the public to pray for the victims of Manchester bombing, but said that life must go on.
Braun replied on his Twitter account to a fan, asking for the Hyde Park show to be pulled, saying: “Not going to happen. We will never let evil stop us from living our life with joy.”
Phil Bowdery, chair of the Concert Promoters Association said that the Association will continue to work with venues, police and relevant authorities so other planned concerts go ahead as safely as possible.
Since touring has been one of the top sources of income for musicians in recent years, Biebers team refused to cancel the shows. The top 10 worldwide tour acts grossed a combined $1.67 billion in 2016, according to music industry publication Pollstar. Bieber ranks number six among the top 10 tours with $163.3 million earned.
