Kiss Announces Another Farewell Tour
In the series of recent farewell tours, another one was announced this week and this time by the legendary KISS.
After a 45-year-fruitful career, KISS is taking one final run in 2019. Details for the tour aren’t disclosed yet but the multi-year stint will give fans one last chance to witness the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees’ explosive shows. Dates for the tour will be announced in the upcoming weeks so start prepping right now. Until then, check out the current farewell tours by Ozzy Osbourne, Paul Simon and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Kiss confirmed their last tour during the last episode of America’s Got Talent when they performed “Detroit Rock City”. The End of the Road tour is expected in early 2019 and it’s going to be mind-blowing, breath-taking show that will be a celebration of KISS rather than any individual lineup or members.
“All that we have built and all that we have conquered over the past four decades could never have happened without the millions of people worldwide who’ve filled clubs, arenas and stadiums over those years,” KISS said in a statement. “This will be the ultimate celebration for those who’ve seen us and a last chance for those who haven’t. KISS Army, we’re saying goodbye on our final tour with our biggest show yet and we’ll go out the same way we came in, unapologetic and unstoppable.”
KISS have already marketed a tour as their last in 2000 called the Farewell Tour, following their 1996 reunion with original members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. It turned out to be only their last tour with the original foursome. The current lineup that is preparing for 2019 tour consists of Paul Stanley (guitar), Gene Simmons (bass), Tommy Thayer (guitar) and Eric Singer (drums). This line up has been intact since 2004. Members are in the process of planning the biggest tour they have ever done and they even filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to reserve the rights to the phrase “The End of the Road” with regard to “live performances by a musical band.”
R&B legend Anita Baker is also saying goodbye to her career as well as well-known 80’s synth-pop duo Soft Cell. KISS’ End of the Road Tour dates are yet to be announced and until then you can warm up by checking out some of Elton John’s legendary performances from his farewell tour.
