Lady Gaga Kicks Off Las Vegas Residency
Lady Gaga has kicked off her Las Vegas residency on 28 December at Park Theater. She announced the 27-show run for 2019 and tickets for all dates can be found here.
Gaga’s residency will feature two shows called Lady Gaga Enigma and Lady Gaga Jazz & Piano. The Enigma show will focus on her upbeat pop hits while Jazz & Piano will show will feature a bare-bones version of her original songs and covers. Knowing Gaga, we expect nothing less than a spectacle.
“We’re creating a show unlike anything I’ve done before,” Gaga said in the statement. “It will be a celebration of all that is unique and different within us. The challenges of bravery can be overcome with creativity and courage that is grown out of adversity, love and music.”
Gaga has been on a roller coaster of her massive success for eight years, touring the world’s largest stadiums and arenas. She has to scale down to a much intimate space of 5,200 seats and adjust her performance to the newly-rebranded Park MGM hotel, the hottest new spot in Sin City.
Residencies are now the hottest new thing for an entertainer to do and date back to the likes of Elvis Presley, Liberace and Frank Sinatra. Celine Dion, Elton John and Cher brought it back to life in the past decade and more and more performers join the club in recent years including Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani and Blink 182. Bruno Mars’ residency was a game changer in Las Vegas. He changed the way how hotels are being designed and constructed.
“A couple of artists got in there quickly and proved it was a great place to see a show. Bruno Mars is the best example,” Kurt Melien, Live Nation Las Vegas president said. “He was in there right away, and people were like, ‘This is incredible,’ and the domino started to fall from there.”
“We certainly had that in mind when we built Park Theater,” says George Kliavkoff, MGM’s president of sports and entertainment of the venue that’s part of a $550 million rebranding and refurbishment of Monte Carlo Resort & Casino, which officially debuted as Park MGM in May.
Six-time Grammy Award winner, Golden Globe Award-winner and Academy Award-nominee has always dreamt of becoming a “Las Vegas girl” and her dreams are coming true this year.
