Metallica About to Kick off Final Leg in September
Twelfth and the final leg of Metalica’s extensive tour is about to kick off in North America with their first performance in Madison on 2 September.
If you still hadn’t had the chance to listen the kings of heavy metal live, now is your last chance. Tickets for all North American performances can be found here so just pick the city closest to you.
The World Wired Tour consists of 12 legs and 134 shows in total. The tour started on 26 October 2016 in Puerto Rico with 11 shows in total in Latin America. Metallica performed 5 shows in Asia and 43 in Europe in the late 2017 and early 2018, and after a summer break, they return to North America this fall. At the end of the tour, there would be 75 shows performed in the US and Canada in total.
The final North American leg consists of 34 shows in all major cities in the US and Canada including Winnipeg, Sacramento, Austin, Portland, Buffalo, Salt Lake City, Kansas City, Indianapolis and many more. Some of these cities like Grand Forks, North and South Dakota, Sioux Falls and Alabama will see Metallica for the first time in decades during this last run. The final jaunt is setting off on 2 September in Madison, Wisconsin and keeps Metallica on the road through 2019, concluding on 13 March in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Comedian Jim Breuer will host a “Light It Up” pre-show party at every gig. “Jim, along with a DJ to get the night rocking with some great tunes, hits the stage before the band with comedy, fan interaction, giveaways and much more,” the band said.
The tour is supporting the band’s latest album Hardwired…To Self-Destruct which was released in fall 2016 as a double album and certified platinum by RIAA. The album topped the charts in 57 countries and sold 291,000 units in the first week and five million copies worldwide. It was the second time in history any band had six consecutive albums debut at number one, along with Dave Matthews Band.
Their previous tour was World Magnetic Tour in 2008-2010, supporting their ninth album Death Magnetic which earned $217.2 million for 187 performances which was their most successful tour.
The ongoing tour is expected to break the record with $211.4 million earned so far.
