Robert Plant Touring US with New Band
Robert Plant (frontman Led Zeppelin) will be hitting the road during the summer with his brand new band – Band of Joy. The new band that Plant has pulled together will showoff their talent across the southern states.
The band will tour for one month beginning with Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, Tennessee on July 13 and will end the tour at Bayfront Park Amphitheater in Miami, Florida on July 31. The tour is only for two weeks total and only includes 12 concerts. Of course, rumor has it the tour will begin again for fall for the second leg.
The first leg of the Band of Joy tour includes stops in Tulsa, Oklahoma at Brady Theatre on July 16; in Dallas, Texas at Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center on July 23; and in Clearwater, Florida at the Ruth Eckerd Hall on July 30.
The tickets are scheduled to go on sale this week. Other dates and venues include Austin Texas on July 26 and Little Rock Arkansas on July 15, and Mobile Alabama on July 28.
The band is the group of musicians that accompany Plant on his new album with a release date late this summer or possibly early fall. The musicians in the Band of Joy include vocalist Patty Griffin, multi-instrumentalist Darrel Scott, bassist Byron House, drummer/percussionist Marco Giovino, and co producer/guitarist Buddy Miller.
Robert stated recently, “It’s been a blast working on these new songs…and I’m enjoying such creativity and vitality,” Plant said in a statement about his new material and band. “It’s been a remarkable change of direction for all of us and as a group we all seem to have developed a new groove.”
The name of the new album has not released as of this time. The record label will be Rounder, which is the same label that released Plant’s “Raising Sand”, the 2007 collaboration with Alison Krauss.
