30th March 2010 | Category: Concerts

This quartet gave fans a treat at Betsy’s Bar by playing their new album for radio and press representatives that were invited to the listening party, Stone Temple Pilots that is due to hit the public around May 25.

Before the music began to play, Scott Weiland, the frontman spoke to those that attended saying, “nine or so years ago, when the band split, we had this feeling that the legacy wasn’t finished” and went on to say, “what really has made us a band and kept us a band for such a long time.” In addition, he stated the album was “a labor, but a labor of love” and “a really special record to us.”

Stone Temple Pilots also gave a preview at Austin Music Hall by playing four of the new songs from the album, kicking off their nine city tour timed to fit in with the launch of the first single, “Between the Lines.” Along with this new song, they also let the audience hear “Hickory Dichotomy,” “Bagman” and “Huckleberry Crumble.” Weiland joking with the crowd introduced a new song, which was nothing more than the hit song of 1993, “Plush.”

The concert mainly centered on radio hits such as “Creep”, “Sex Type Thing”, “Big Empty”, “Wicked Garden, Hollywood Bitch”, “Vasoline”, “Dead and Bloated”, “Trippin’ on a Hole in a Paper Heart”, “Sour Girl”, and “Plush”.

Stone Temple Pilots will continue the tour by stopping in Bossier City, Louisiana and in Detroit, Michigan after that. This will end the spring revival tour or they may keep up with the title of revival tour for the summer months as well. Of course, no one has mentioned a summer tour, but we all kind cross our fingers for more dates and venues being announced soon.
