Unwrap the Magic with Boston Pops
This year, celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with family, friends, and merry music at a Holiday Pops concert this December. The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra is returning to perform festive favorites from cultural traditions around the world. Prepare to be immersed in the holiday spirit with conductors Keith Lockhart, James Burton, and the Pops.
Fans will be able to capture the magic of the Holiday season and the winter charms of New England. The Boston Pops will perform all their holiday classics, such as their signature Sleigh Ride. In addition, the orchestra will add some new arrangements of seasonal favorites. Metropolitan Chorale, known as one of Metro Boston’s premier choral ensembles will also join them. Santa Claus plans on making a guest appearance as well, during the concert’s finale. His appearance is followed by the traditional Boston Pops Holiday Sing-a-long to bring this special performance to a close.
The Boston Pops are celebrating their 136th Season this year, with Keith Lockhart entering his 28th year as esteemed conductor for the orchestra.
Holiday Pops began in 1973 led by Arthur Fiedler. It featured a three-concert series at Symphony Hall called “A Pops Christmas Party.” Ever since, the public demand for the performances has continued to grow and the season has expanded to include well over 30 performances each holiday season. In 1978, the fans were overjoyed with the orchestra beginning a new Christmastime tradition of bringing its unique Holiday Pops concerts to venues throughout New England and the Northeast.
The Boston Pops series of shows will begin on December 1st at Boston Symphony Hall with the last show taking place on December 24th.
