Willie Nelson Concert This Weekend Will Be A Benefit For Texan Blast Victims
Texan Willie Nelson commences a spring and summer tour this week and the country singer has announced that this weeks opening gig in his home town of Texas will be a benefit concert for the victims of last weeks atrocity at the West Fertilizer Plant. Nelson was brought up in Texas, and still has a home in the town of Abbott which is located around five miles from where last weeks explosion occurred. At the weekend he made the following announcement about the devastating news. He said, “Our hearts and prayers go out to the people of West. There are a lot of our friends and loved ones and neighbours down there. We talked to some of them and some of them made it out OK, and some of them didn’t. But they’re strong and they’ll be back. It’s one of those things you don’t get over, but you will get through it.”
The concert is due to be staged on Sunday 28th April at The Backyard at Bee Cave in Austin and it was originally planned to be a celebration for Nelson’s 80th birthday. The concert will now be combined into two so collections can be made for the victims and support staff of last weeks awful events. From Texas Nelson will start his tour in earnest staging gigs in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa and Michigan. There will also be two concerts in Canada as well, with the first being held on Wednesday 19th June in Windsor, Ontario at The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor. The following day he will be in Toronto at The Massey Hall and discounted Willie Nelson concert tickets are still available for both dates.
After Canada Willie will return to America for further gigs in New York, Texas, Indiana, Illinois and Ohio. At the beginning of August there will be five concerts in California, at various different venues, with dates in Washington and Idaho to follow.
