In the 1920’s and the 30’s there were what was called the Harlem Renaissance and here you can see that time period come to life with this amazing 3 time Tony award winning musical production of Ain’t Misbehavin’. Here you will find five very talented performers that are on a journey through that timeless music of Thomas “Fats” Waller. You will be out of your seat jiving and jumping to all of those memorable songs such as “This Joint is Jumpin,” “Honeysuckle Rose,” “Black and Blue,” “I’ve Got a Feeling ‘m Falling,” and of course “Ain’t Misbehavin’.” This is one of the most well-crafted, most popular, very creative productions of all time, this amazing sometimes sultry, and other times sassy has flashes that are of overwhelmingly beautiful that you will not soon forget.
Since their beginning in the year of 2010, this Las Vegas based Broadway in The Hood has created many unique theatrical works that have dealt with many social issues as well as celebrated many community creations of Broadway smash hits such as The Color Purple and Dream girls. This organization has also been featured on many TV shows, which include R&B Divas LA as well as an one hour PBS special. The production of Open Doors and Dreams that was done by Broadway in the Hood was nominated for a regional Emmy. The Smith Center has graciously partnered with Broadway in the Hood in order to present it upcoming season.
