Most people are very familiar with Jay Leno’s every man style from his work as the host of the Emmy Award winning “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” Leno’s comedy touches on topics that audiences of all ages are able to relate to, and he does not use a lot of profanity.
Before his work on the very popular “The Tonight Show” Jay Leno performed as a standup comedian which headlined in clubs all across the country. Leno also performed as the opening act for the very well known entertainers such as John Denver as well as Tom Jones. In the year of 1977 Jay Leno made his debut on “The Tonight Show” which starred Johnny Carson at the time, and then was recognized as a permanent guest host in the year of 1987.
Jay Leno started his tenure as the main host for “The Tonight Show” in the year of 1992 as he then continued to host the show for the following 17 years. In the year of 2009, Leno passed on the torch to his fellow late night comedian Conan O’Brian. Jay Leno started his new talk show “The Jay Leno Show” which also debuted in the year of 2009. After “The Jay Leno Show” ended Leno returned to star as the host of “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” in the year of 2010 which in turned replaced Conan O’Brian. In the year of 2014 Jay Leno retired from the “Tonight Show” and was replaced by Jimmy Fallon.
