Bob Dylan Announces U.S. Fall Tour with Mavis Staples

14th September 2017 | Category: Concerts

Bob Dylan has just announced the third leg of 2017 across North America and he is bringing iconic Mavis Staples, rhythm and blues and gospel singer, as support.

The fall tour is scheduled to set off on October 13 in Valley Center in California and to conclude in Agganis Arena in Boston on November 16. Mavis Staples, whose album with Jeff Tweedy is soon to be released, will play in the 19 of 21 shows in total, starting with two shows in Eccles Theatre in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 17 and 18.

Tickets for all venues can be purchased here.

Don’t miss the opportunity to be the part of “Never Ending Tour”, the endless touring schedule this American singer, songwriter and writer started on June 7, 1988.

This has been a busy year for Bob Dylan.

In April and May he performed 28 shows of leg one over Europe and 49 shows of leg two in June and July across the North America. It will be 77 in total when the third leg is finished. In March, Dylan released his 38th album “Triplicate”, a triple-disc of classic American songs that Rolling Stone Magazine ranked as one of the 2017’s Best Albums So Far. “Trouble No More”, the Dylan documentary that contains footage from singer’s concert tour dates in 1979-1980, expects its premiere at the New York Film Festival on September 30. Not bad for a 76-year-old musician.

Bob Dylan is a legend who sold more than 100 million records over five decades and is one of the best-selling artists of all time. He won eleven Grammy Awards, a golden Globe and an Academy Award. And as if it wasn’t enough, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama in 2012 and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2016 for “having created new poetic expression within the great American song tradition”.

Wicked Becomes Eighth Longest-running Show on Broadway

12th September 2017 | Category: Theater

We are thrilled to announce that “Wicked” became the eighth longest-running show on Broadway with its 5,759th performance at the Gershwin Theatre this August.

The musical is surpassing “Mamma Mia” after its great success and popularity gained since the 2003 premiere. The number one is “Phantom of the Opera”, followed by “Chicago”, “The Lion King”, “Cats”, “Les Miserables”, “A Chorus Line” and “Oh! Calcuta!” in seventh place.

It is not the only chart this musical went up this year. In July 2017, Wicked surpassed “The Phantom of the Opera” as Broadway’s second-highest-grossing show, now trailing only “The Lion King”.

If you still haven’t seen this cultural phenomenon, now is your chance to buy the tickets here and enjoy Broadway’s biggest blockbuster. According to critics, if every musical had the brain, heart and courage of “Wicked”, Broadway would be a magical place. Don’t miss it!

Wicked: the Untold Story of the Witches of Oz with the music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Winnie Holzman, won 3 Tony Awards, 7 Drama Desk Awards, 4 Outer Critic Circle Awards and a Grammy with its original production. This Broadway musical looks at what happened in Oz from a different angle, shedding a new light on the original characters and plot of “Wizard of Oz” we all liked when we were young.

A young woman, Elphaba, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery, misunderstood and with an extraordinary talent. She meets a bubbly blonde Glinda and their initial rivalry turns into the unexpected friendship. Elphaba’s dream was to meet the famous Wizard of Oz and do well but soon, she realized he is merely a charlatan and has no powers.

He only tried to use her and after she refused, the Wizard and his secretary spread rumors about her being dangerous and not to be trusted. Glinda stayed by Wizard’s side since he promised to make her dreams come true. Following the Wizard’s lead, the world decided to put prejudicial labels on them, calling Glinda the good and Elphaba the wicked witch.

Join Elphaba on her magical journey in a fight against evil and purchase tickets for all venues here.

Don’t miss Uma Thurman’s Broadway Debut in The Parisian Woman

6th September 2017 | Category: Theater

Pulp Fiction Academy Award nominee Uma Thurman will make her Broadway debut this fall in a political drama “The Parisian Woman”, a new play written by Academy Award and Emmy Award Nominee Beau Willimon, the creator of “House of Cards”.

Willmon’s inspiration for “The Parisian Woman” comes from the 1885 controversial play by French dramatist Henri Becque’s “La Parisienne”. The play is directed by Tony Award winner for “Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf?” Pam MacKinnon. The play commissioned and developed by The Flea Theater in New York City, and was originally produced by South Coast Repertory. The previews begin on November 7 and the opening night is scheduled for November 30.

Tickets for all venues are available here.

Uma Thurman, A-list movie star, plays Chloe, a socialite armed with charm and wit, who comes to terms with politics, her past, her marriage and an uncertain future in Washington D.C. where powerful friends are the only kind worth having, especially after the 2016 election.

“It’s contemporary, it’s sharp, it’s witty and it’s a grown-up piece of material,” Ms. Thurman said in an interview about her act about a woman who is asking her lover to help her husband get a high-level government position. “I think it moves beautifully, and I felt like it was a good part for me.”

Ms. Thurman said she had been looking for years for an opportunity to return to the theater stage since her 1999 Off Broadway appearance in an adaptation of Moliere’s “The Misanthrope”.

“I’ve given my whole life to performance; many of the pieces I’ve done have been very dramatic and rehearsed,” Ms. Thurman said. “That’s the part I’ve enjoyed the most — the exploration of language, the theatricality — and I’m looking forward to something of real depth and complexity.”

Besides Uma Thurman, many great names will be seen here. ParTony nominee Phillipa Soo and Marton Csokas have joined the starry lineup. Josh Lucas appears as Tom, the husband, and Tony winner Blair Brown as Jeanette Simpson, mom to Soo’s character.

Don’t miss this exciting, sharp and fabulous play and witness the hard work of some of the greatest names of the theatre.
