Tenacious D Announce Summer 2022 US Tour

16th December 2021 | Category: Concerts

American comedy rock band Tenacious D have announced an upcoming tour of the United States, scheduled for summer 2022.

The band first announced the tour via their social media accounts on Wednesday, December 8.

“Time to melt some faces!!!!” wrote the band on Instagram.

Tenacious D’s post also reveals that American clown-garbed singer-songwriter Puddles Pity Party will serve as a special guest performer for the duration of the seven-show tour.

The tour will see the band and Puddles Pity Party perform in Colorado, Oregon, San Diego, Palo Alto, and more from June 16-26.

Tenacious D are the duo of actors, comedians and musicians Jack Black and Kyle Gass. In September, they released a reissue of their September 2001 self-titled debut album. The ‘Super Power Party Pack’ edition of their debut album includes the band’s original 1995 demo cassette and 2002 ‘Tribute’ EP.

In 2006, the duo released their now-iconic feature film, Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny. The film and its official soundtrack featured guest performances and cameos from Dave Grohl, Ronnie James Dio, and Meat Loaf.

In July, Tenacious D released their first single of the year, a medley cover of The Beatles’ ‘You Never Give Me Your Money’ and ‘The End’. The cover, and its outlandish music video, received praise from Paul McCartney himself, who said, “It’s so imaginative and so well performed. What a great tribute to the original”.

In June, Gass released a cover of the Ramones classic ‘I Wanna Be Sedated’, changing the lyrics and transforming the song into a COVID-19 vaccination anthem.

Olivia Rodrigo Announces UK, European and North American 2022 Tour

7th December 2021 | Category: Concerts

Olivia Rodrigo has announced a tour of the UK, Europe, and North America for 2022 – see dates below.

The shows, which come in support of the singer’s debut album Sour, will be her first headline tour dates, and will run from April to July next year.

Supporting Rodrigo on select dates of the tour, which starts in North America in April before heading to Europe in June and ending in the UK in July, will be Gracie Abrams, Holly Humberstone, and Baby Queen.

Last month (November 23), Rodrigo was nominated for seven Grammy awards for Sour and a number of its singles, including Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Best New Artist.

After the nominations, it was revealed that The Recording Academy had rescinded the names of Taylor Swift, Jack Antonoff, and Annie Clark – aka St. Vincent – as part of the list of nominees on Sour’s Album Of The Year nomination.

Swift, Antonoff, and Clark were originally listed as part of the credited writers for the nomination, given that Swift’s 2019 single ‘Cruel Summer’ was interpolated on Rodrigo’s top-five 2021 single ‘deja vu’.

Both Swift and Antonoff were also credited for Rodrigo’s song ‘1 step forward, 3 steps back’, which interpolates Swift’s 2017 song ‘New Years Day’. This was done in accordance with the Academy’s new rule that everyone who served as a credited songwriter on an album nominated in the category shares the nomination.

The Academy have since, however, changed this rule to reflect those that directly wrote songs for the album, as opposed to those whose work is interpolated or referenced.

Jim Jefferies Adds More Dates to His 2022 Australian and New Zealand Tour

30th November 2021 | Category: Concerts

Comedian Jim Jefferies has expanded his 2022 homecoming tour to include four new venues, including Newcastle Entertainment Centre on Saturday, June 11.

He had to push his first tour of Australia in three years back to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“COVID bloody sucks, and I even spent two weeks in hotel quarantine for this!” Jim says of the rescheduling. “Make no mistake: I will be back to perform these shows for you next year. Stay safe, and please hang on to your ticket.”

After a nearly four-year wait (and a brief stay in Sydney hotel quarantine last year), these shows will be huge. Having sold out arenas worldwide – including iconic venues such as Madison Square Garden, Hammersmith Apollo – Jefferies’ live shows have covered everything you can imagine, from politics to celebrities, gun control to religion, family, sex and much, much more over the years – nothing is sacred.

Jefferies’ unapologetic social commentary is one of a kind. He calls a spade a spade.

“I can’t wait to get back and into the tour that COVID stopped,” Jefferies said.

“I’m very happy to also be adding New Zealand dates, as well as Canberra, Hobart, Newcastle and Wollongong to the Australian run.”

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Monday, December 6.

Jefferies is currently still performing.

He also shared this on his social media before sharing the new Australian and New Zealand updates.

“Upcoming show dates for next week, New York, Philadelphia, and Virginia I look forward to seeing you all! Tickets are still available, visit Jimjefferies.com”
