John Mayer Announces 2022 ‘Sob Rock’ Tour

25th August 2021 | Category: Concerts

John Mayer has a North American tour coming in support of his new album, Sob Rock.

The run will launch on February 17th next year at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York, and wrap on April 28th at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Mayer released Sob Rock — his first solo effort since 2017’s The Search for Everything — on Friday, July 16th.

Mayer rose to fame in 2001 with the quintuple-platinum album Room For Squares and earned three No. 1 debuts with the 2003 album Heavier Things, 2009′s Battle Studies and 2012′s Born and Raised. He’s won seven Grammy Awards including Song of the Year for “Daughters” in 2005. Mayer set records by earning seven No. 1s on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart and 25 entries on the Hot Rock Songs chart, the most for any solo artist.

Mayer released Sob Rock — his first solo effort since 2017’s The Search for Everything — on Friday, July 16th.

When the album landed in the No. 2 position on Billboard last month, beat only by Pop Smoke’s posthumous release, Faith, the singer-songwriter took to Instagram to reflect on his legacy.

“I’ve been making music for a while now,” he wrote in the caption of the post. “I’ve had my rocket ride years, my figure-it-out years, and most recently the years of having settled into myself and proudly passing the love of music on to others. That’s how the story goes, if you’re lucky. I don’t know what to make of still having a seat at this table. I just don’t. I only know it has everything to do with you. So thank you. For inhabiting the space inside the music I’ve made, and most importantly – for giving me the opportunity to feel this kind of success with my true, fully assembled self. This is a new beginning. With love and gratitude, John.”

Tickets for Mayer’s upcoming shows are available. You can find the info here.

The summer concerts include a record release show at a Newport Folk Festival afterparty. Yola also has a fall 2021 run lined up supporting Chris Stapleton.

KISS Confirm New Las Vegas Residency

12th August 2021 | Category: Las Vegas

KISS will kick off their long-rumored second Las Vegas residency at the end of the year.

The news of the band’s return to Las Vegas was broken by bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons during an interview at Animazing Gallery at The Venetian Grand Canal Shoppes, previewing his “ArtWorks” collection of paintings and sketches.

Asked if KISS will be coming back for a second Las Vegas residency, Simmons said:

“We are. My favorite band are gonna be at Zappos [Theater at Planet Hollywood] in Las Vegas starting December 27. That’s right, even through New Year’s. And we’ll be here through February. But in the middle of the KISS tour that’s going around the world.”

The legendary rockers previously performed in Sin City in November 2014 at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel And Casino.

Speaking to Las Vegas Weekly, KISS frontman Paul Stanley stated about how the idea for the residency came about:

“To spend as much time as we do in Vegas and to live as close as we do, the idea of doing a residency and leaving our stage setup, as opposed to breaking it down nightly, was really appealing.”

He continued:

“We [had] just finished 42 cities and played for 600,000 people, but that meant that every night the show got disassembled and moved. There’s something appealing and challenging about building a set that doesn’t have to be moved. You don’t have to take into account the practicality of it, being able to be broken down constantly and reassembled. So this was something that we had wanted to do for quite a while; it was just a matter of making sure we found people who were in agreement on how to do it. The Joint was the natural place to do it.”

KISS are currently on the ‘End Of The Road’ farewell tour, which was originally scheduled to conclude on July 17, 2021 in New York City, but is now expected to last well into 2022.

Tyler, the Creator Announces 2022 North American Tour

10th August 2021 | Category: Concerts

Tyler, the Creator has announced a North American tour for spring next year, in support of his latest album Call Me If You Get Lost.

The massive 34-stop tour, taking place between February and April, will see the rapper joined by special guests Vince Staples, Kali Uchis, and Teezo Touchdown.

News of the North American tour follows Tyler’s headlining set at Lollapalooza last weekend, a performance at the BET Awards and a trio of one-off shows in Los Angeles, Dallas and New York City.

Tyler Okonma aka Tyler, the Creator, rose to prominence in the early 2010s as the co-founder and de facto leader of alternative hip hop group Odd Future. The group featured the likes of Frank Ocean, Earl Sweatshirt, and The Internet’s Syd.

Speaking in a new interview with Ebro Darden, Laura Stylez, and Peter Rosenberg on Hot 97, Tyler was asked by Rosenberg if Odd Future would have made it in 2021. “Oh, f*ck no!” Tyler responded. “We came at the right time where you could still be crazy – you could still be a kid and f*ck up.

“You could still have satire, allow people to have a conversation even if you disagreed. Right now is crazy. I was just thinking I’ve done so much ill shit in this 10-year span, whether it’s the [Camp Flog Gnaw] festival or the shit I have coming. The last two years have just been ill. I’m like, ‘What if they got me out of here in 2011 [when he released his debut solo album Goblin] and wouldn’t allow me to get right here?’”

More info on Tyler, the Creator’s upcoming shows can be found here.

Whitesnake, Foreigner and Europe Announce Joint UK and Ireland 2022 Tour

6th August 2021 | Category: Concerts

Three rock veterans have teamed up for a joint tour of the UK and Ireland next year, with Whitesnake and Foreigner co-headlining alongside special guests Europe.

“I pray every day we can all make this happen and once again, share unforgettable evenings together and celebrate the amazing journey we have been on for almost 50 years!” said Whitesnake’s David Coverdale.

Mick Jones of Foreigner added: “We can’t wait to kick off the summer in the UK and Ireland with a massive tour alongside our friends Whitesnake and Europe. We’re looking forward to playing all our biggest hits for our fans, and rocking across the country.”

Europe’s Joey Tempest described the shows as “An evening of some of the biggest anthems in classic rock! We are truly honoured to be invited as special guests.”

The three bands were initially due to tour together in summer 2020, however the shows were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Whitesnake released their most recent album ‘Flesh And Blood’ in 2019, while Europe’s ‘Walk The Earth’ came out in 2017. Foreigner have not released new music since 2009’s ‘Can’t Slow Me Down’.

As Whitesnake prepare to embark on their farewell tour, David Coverdale has announced that the band has now welcomed singer Dino Jelusick to the band’s live lineup.

Jelusick, who is 29 years old, first gained notoriety as the winner of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark in 2003. The singer and multi-instrumentalist has since released multiple solo albums and is the current singer and keyboardist in Dirty Shirley (which also features guitar icon George Lynch). He has also been a member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra since 2016.
