Tom Jones Announces UK Tour

3rd August 2021 | Category: Concerts

Sir Tom Jones has announced a new set of UK tour dates for this year in support of his recent album Surrounded By Time.

The album, which came out back in April, featured covers of songs by the likes of Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, and Bobby Cole.

Jones is now set to tour in the UK in December on the Surrounded By Time tour, which kicks off in Glasgow at The SSE Hydro on December 5.

The tour will then visit Manchester and Birmingham before concluding in London on December 9 with a gig at The O2. That date is part of the London arena’s ‘Welcome Back Show’ series.

Jones tweeted: “Very excited to announce my Surrounded By Time Tour!

I will be performing arenas in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham & London this December.”

Marc Saunders, Programming Manager at The O2, said in a statement:

“We’re delighted to have Tom Jones, one of the UK’s most seminal artists, join the roster of our ‘Welcome Back Show’ series, and we can’t wait for what promises to be a special evening.”

The iconic Welsh singer has vowed to never retire from music.

In a recent interview, he said that although he is now 81, he intends to keep playing concerts until his body doesn’t allow him to do so anymore.

“I’ve got good bones and I am pretty fit, and as long as I’ve got two bloody legs, I’ll keep performing.

“I can’t wait for live shows because I love singing to a lot of people. Without them, what’s the point?”

Jones added that the days of women throwing their underwear at him when he’s up on stage are long gone.

“The tight pants, open neck shirt, people throwing things at me – that went with time.

“I concentrate more on the way I sing as opposed to the way I move. You can’t be up there saying, ‘I am Mr. Macho,’ because I’m not. I’m not jumping all over the place, but I must admit that I don’t feel 80.”

Erykah Badu to Tour This Fall

30th July 2021 | Category: Concerts

Erykah Badu has announced a selection of tour dates slated for September to October 2021.

The revered artist is kicking off her series of performances at the 2021 Riverfront Jazz Festival in Dallas, Texas on September 3. She will then stop by areas like Atlantic City, New York City, Sugar Land, Indianapolis, Phoenix and San Diego. The 18-day run will conclude on October 30 in Atlanta. Badu will also be making a few festival appearances, including Lights On Festival in Concord and both Austin City Limits weekends.

The singer’s latest release is 2015’s But You Caint Use My Phone mixtape, which garnered positive reviews from outlets such as Pitchfork, Spin, and Rolling Stone.

In a July 2020 interview, Badu referred to herself as “the laziest artist probably in Dallas” as she touched on what she thought about touring.

“I didn’t miss it,” she said in reference to live shows. “I’ve always wanted to perform from my bed at home. I’m the laziest artist probably in Dallas. I never wanted to do the packing and going through the car and luggage and the hotel and, ‘What’s the password? What’s the internet?’ You get tired after years and years of doing it, you know?”

Badu, who typically spends 8 months out of the year on the road, added,

“I enjoyed the moment when the audience and the artist become one living, breathing organism, when the band and I are locked in. I miss that synergy and energy between me and the audience. But I found a new way to express that, and it doesn’t take its place. It just evolved it to another place.”

Clairo Plots 2022 North American Tour in Support of ‘Sling’ Album

29th July 2021 | Category: Concerts

Clairo has announced a North American tour in support of her new album Sling.

The spring trek kicks off in Charlotte, North Carolina, on February 16th, with stops at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall and Chicago’s Riviera Theatre. It will wrap in Claire Cottrill’s hometown of Atlanta, Georgia on April 16th.

Arlo Parks will support Cottrill for a majority of the dates, with Widowspeak opening the final three dates.

Cottrill partnered with SafeTour and Calling All Crows for the shows to be safe and harassment-free.

“Now that shows are starting to come back into our everyday lives, it’s important to

prioritize everyone’s experience to the fullest,” Cottrill said in a statement. “Everyone deserves a resource and everyone deserves to enjoy the show in peace. I want the audience to know that there is someone who will listen and believe them at every show.”

The Jack Antonoff-produced Sling marks Cottrill’s second album, which was mostly recorded at Allaire Studios in upstate New York.

In April 2020, it was reported that Clairo had begun work on her follow-up to Immunity when she shared a screenshot of a playlist titled ‘Album 2 (demos so far)’. In the writing process, Clairo admitted that “Joanie, my dog, opened up my world in ways I didn’t think were capable. By caring for her, it forced me to face my own thoughts about parenthood and what it would mean to me.”

Having started writing in July 2020, Clairo revealed that “Reaper” was the first song she wrote for the record, and had then recorded approximately 35 of its demos thereafter.

Prior to the announcement of Sling, Clairo provided background vocals on Lorde‘s song “Solar Power” alongside Phoebe Bridgers. On June 11, 2021, Clairo released the lead single of the album, “Blouse”, which features background vocals from Lorde.

Incubus Announce Fall 2021 Tour Dates

21st July 2021 | Category: Concerts

Incubus will be going on a brief tour across the American South and Midwest, which follows the release of their Trust Fall (Side B) EP that came out last spring. This tour will kick off on August 31 in Saint Augustine, Florida and will continue northbound toward Fort Wayne, Indiana, where it will wrap up on September 6.

Trust Fall (Side B) was originally supposed to be followed by a summer 2020 tour alongside 311 and Badflower, however these concerts were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The EP was a follow-up of Trust Fall (Side A), which originally came out in 2015.

As a band that’s been active for three decades, Incubus has experimented with numerous sounds, garnering both praise and criticism for their vast musical diversity.

“We’ve had periods of time in the band where we struggled both creatively and interpersonally,” the band’s Brandon Boyd explained in an interview with Atwood Magazine. “And we’ve even had a period of time where we thought we wouldn’t survive another month, and our answer to that was to talk things out and communicate to the best of our ability, and then give this thing some space – like let it breathe – and in doing that, we allowed for a kind of natural rhythm to take place, I think.”

Incubus’ latest full-length album is 2017’s 8, which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and was their first new album since 2011’s If Not Now, When?

Info about the new Incubus tour dates can be found here.

PVRIS Share 2021 US Tour Dates While Announcing “New Era”

20th July 2021 | Category: Concerts

American rock duo PVRIS have announced that their “new era” is coming, revealing they’ll be playing new songs on their forthcoming tour.

On social media, the band shared their forthcoming US tour dates set for later this year, saying that the tour will see the band enter a new phase.

“Welcome to the new era,” they wrote.

“We are debuting three new songs on tour to give you an advanced preview of what’s to come.”

PVRIS released their third album, Use Me, in August of last year. In a four-star review of the album, NME‘s Dannii Leivers described the album as one where frontwoman Lynn Gunn “leaves her anxieties behind and steps forward into the spotlight.”

The album was recorded last year in LA and Nashville last year, but due to delayed release dates (the first down to Covid-19 and the second because Gunn wanted to “hold space for the conversation and message of the Black Lives Matter movement to continue”) she was able to make final alterations during the lockdown.

The album closes with its title track, now featuring a verse from experimental rapper 070 Shake. It’s the first time Gunn has collaborated with another artist – yet another example of her stepping into the unknown and pushing herself out of her comfort zone.

PVRIS performed Use Me in full during the final installment of a three-part livestream series in April. The first two installments saw the band play their previous two albums – 2014’s White Noise and 2017’s All We Know Of Heaven, All We Need of Hell, respectively.
