Sea Girls Share New 2021 Tour Details

4th September 2020 | Category: Concerts

Sea Girls have postponed their UK tour until spring 2021 and also added more shows to their run.

The London four-piece were due to hit the road this November in support of their debut album ‘Open Up Your Head’, which was released last month.

On their official Twitter, the band has confirmed that their previously announced shows have now been pushed back to April/May next year due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Extra shows have also been added for Liverpool, Newcastle, Leicester, Sheffield, Portsmouth, Oxford, Cambridge and Leeds.

“Get ready for our biggest ever UK tour in April 2021!” they wrote.

The statement also said:

“We have also made the tough decision to move the following 4 Sold Out shows from Nov 2020 to April 2021 so we can play them safely. Your tickets will remain valid for these new shows, please keep hold of them.”

The group’s album launch performances in Nottingham, Bristol, Birmingham, Newcastle, Cardiff and Manchester remain unaffected and are currently due to take place in January.

Last month saw Sea Girls release their debut album Open Up Your Head which landed all the way at number three in the UK chart.

Speaking to NME last month, Sea Girls’ frontman Henry Camamile opened up on how suffering a traumatic brain injury influenced the direction of the band’s new album.

He said: “I was acknowledging it, talking to myself and saying: ‘There’s something wrong here Henry, you’re in a fucking bad way and your head isn’t sorted. You’re depressed and you’re still turning to partying and drinking’.

“I couldn’t stop it, and the album title is just what it became about. I wanted to put truth into all of these songs. It was an element I just felt was really important.”

Alanis Morissette Moves Manila Tour Dates to 2021

3rd September 2020 | Category: Concerts

Alanis Morissette has announced the new schedule for her Manila concert. Now, the show will be happening on December 7 and 8, 2021 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

The “Hand in My Pocket” singer was originally scheduled to perform in Manila on April 6 and 7, but postponed the shows due to the coronavirus pandemic. She last performed in Manila in 1996.

Her 2020 tour was meant to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her iconic album, Jagged Little Pill, which was released in 1995. The album was the Canadian-American singer’s first record to be released worldwide, and carries hits such as “Head over Feet,” “Ironic,” and “You Oughta Know.”

The album won 5 Grammy awards including the top honor, Album of the Year. It also inspired a Broadway musical, which opened in New York in December.

Her Manila show will feature Filipino jazz-fusion band Up Dharma Down.

Local producers Ovation Productions said that tickets bought for the original show will be honored, but those who want to claim a refund can contact ticket provider SM Tickets by September 30.

Morissette has also previously pushed back her New Zealand tour until next year.

“Due to ongoing travel restrictions and border closures in Australia and New Zealand, and the continued limitations around mass gatherings in Australia, the Alanis Morissette 2020 World Tour – Celebrating 25 Years of Jagged Little Pill originally rescheduled to November 2020, will now be rescheduled to November 2021”

The seven-time Grammy award-winning artist has released her ninth studio album called Such Pretty Forks in the Road last month. This is her new material since 2012 following Havoc and Bright Lights.

The album was preceded by the singles “Reasons I Drink” and “Smiling”, the latter being a new song written for the Jagged Little Pill stage musical. The album debuted at number 16 on the US Billboard 200 and number one on the US Top Rock Albums charts, earning 23,000 album-equivalent units in its first week.

The Georgia-bred band has named this run of concerts the Drive-Ins & Distancing Tour 2020 in what is among the first full “tours” since the pandemic began. The first to do socially distanced drive-in concerts in the U.S. and also launch a full-fledged tour of shows back in May was eclectic producer Marc Rebillet.

The tour is scheduled to kick off at Dr. Pepper Park At The Bridges on September 10th in Roanoke, VA. This is then followed the next night with a pair of special acoustic shows at the Blue Grotto in Oceanport, NJ where the band will perform an early and late show. Next Blackberry Smoke is off to the Starlight Drive-In in Butler, PA (9/12); Circle Drive-In in Scranton, PA (9/13); and finally the Yarmouth Drive-In in Cape Cod, MA (9/15).

Blackberry Smoke consists of Charlie Starr (vocals, guitar), Richard Turner (bass, vocals), Brit Turner (drums), Paul Jackson (guitar, vocals), and Brandon Still (keyboards). Since their debut in 2004, the band has independently released six full-length records and has toured relentlessly. The band released its 6th studio album, Find A Light, on December 19, 2018.

The next year they released a live album and a film Homecoming: Live In Atlanta, via Earache Records, which recorded at their annual Brothers And Sisters Holiday Homecoming event at the Tabernacle in Atlanta in November 2018.

Mariah Carey Announces New Compilation Album Titled ‘The Rarities’

21st August 2020 | Category: Concerts

Mariah Carey is releasing a new album really soon.

The 50-year-old star took to her Twitter on Tuesday evening (August 18) to announce that she is releasing a new compilation album called The Rarities, which will be out on October 2.

“This one is for you, my fans,” she tweeted. “It’s to celebrate us, and to thank you for years of pure love and support. I am so grateful to you. THE RARITIES album is out October 2.”

The Rarities will feature unreleased materials, including demos and b-sides.

The first single, featuring Lauryn Hill, has dropped today, on Friday, August 21.

The Grammy-awarded singer has started working on “Save the Day” with early collaborator Jermaine Dupri years ago, she told Good Morning America.

While the song’s genesis began a long time ago, its sentiment is fitting for the current climate.

“Basically, I found stuff in my vault, that I either started to work on a long time ago and never released, or, you know, that I kind of wanted to finish mixing or do whatever,” she explained to GMA of her upcoming The Rarities. “But they’re songs that have previously not been released.”

Mariah‘s upcoming memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey will be released a few days before the album on September 29,via Andy Cohen Books.

“It’s been a labor of love but there are a lot of very personal stories about my childhood that I think, you know, those were difficult but they’re very cathartic as well,” she said to GMA.

“And the cool thing about this project is that there are songs that I talk about writing or recording even as a little kid until now that I found in the vault, and so we’re kind of putting this out at the same time.”

The Rarities will also contain a second disc of never-before-released full-length audio from Live at the Tokyo Dome, Carey’s first live performance in Japan during her 1996 Daydream World Tour.

BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez Confirm Song Collaboration

20th August 2020 | Category: Concerts

After some speculation, Selena Gomez confirmed that she’s teaming up with BLACKPINK for a new collaboration.

“So SO excited to announce @BlackPinkOfficial and I have a new song coming out August 28th,” the pop star wrote via Instagram on Tuesday (Aug. 11), alongside a sweet and sparkling art featuring the two acts’ names over what appears to be dripping chocolate.

Gomez also shared an image on her Instagram account of a car license plate saying “SELPINK” – a mash-up name of Selena and BLACKPINK.

The announcement comes just a week after YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK’s label, teased a secret collaboration. The poster also reaffirms the track’s Aug. 28 release date but doesn’t reveal its title.

The new collaboration will follow the release of Blackpink’s fellow 2020 single “How You Like That,” which came at No. 33 on the Hot 100 upon its release, coincidentally matching the high mark achieved by “Kill This Love” back in 2019. It will also mark their second crossover single of the year with a major American pop star after teaming up with Lady Gaga for “Sour Candy.” Another international artist they’ve worked together with was Dua Lipa, in 2017.

BLACKPINK’s highly anticipated first full-length album, titled The Album, will be arriving on October 2. So far, Gomez is the only featured act on the set, though the full tracklist hasn’t dropped yet, so that could change whenever they do share that information.

Meanwhile, Gomez most recently collaborated with Trevor Daniel on the remix of rising pop singer’s 2020 single “Past Life” in the wake of her own hit 2020 album Rare. The singer kicked off the year by earning the first Hot 100 No. 1 of her career with the LP’s vulnerable lead single, “Lose You to Love Me.”
