Guns N’ Roses Announce Rescheduled North American Tour Dates for 2021

30th July 2020 | Category: Concerts

After postponing all 2020 dates due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Guns N’ Roses have announced their plan to continue their tour next year.

Beginning with a date at Summerfest in Milwaukee on July 10, their jaunt will see them play in stadiums across the United States and Canada — just like they were supposed to do this year. The tour will conclude at Los Angeles’ Banc of California Stadium (which houses LAFC) on October 19.

The band that not every performance was able to be rescheduled.

“Unfortunately a select few will need to be canceled due to routing and venue availability issues that developed during the postponement process,” the band explained. “We thank everyone for their patience during this difficult time and look forward to performing for you all next year.”

The rock legends have apparently stayed busy in quarantine. Guitarist Slash said in a recent interview that the band has been working on new music in lockdown.

“I’ve been jamming with Duff [McKagan, bassist] and I’ve been jamming with Axl [Rose, frontman] and I’ve been doing stuff like that, so we’ve been getting some work done that way. But I haven’t been doing much else.”

He also admitted that it’s “frustrating” not being able to play shows after their tour was canceled this year as a result of the pandemic.

“We would be on the road right now,” he said. “The whole [Gun N’ Roses] tour from March all the way through September is obviously canceled until next year, and even then we don’t even know for sure what’s gonna happen next year. So that was frustrating.”

Abba to Return in 2021 With Five New Songs and Tour

24th July 2020 | Category: Concerts

ABBA will be releasing brand new music in 2021 as part of their long-awaited reunion, as well as launching a holographic tour.

Newly recorded music from the pop icons was first confirmed in April 2018. At the time, two songs “I Still Have Faith In You” and “Don’t Shut Me Down” were revealed. The tracks were described as “very danceable” and “timeless, more reflective”.

The new tracks are to be followed by a hologram tour, which was first detailed way back in October 2016, with ABBA’s holographic counterparts bringing the new songs to life.

ABBA split in 1982 and reunited in 2016 at a private event marking the 50th anniversary of the first meeting between songwriters Ulvaeus and Andersson. So, this will be the Swedish quartet’s newest material after 35 years.

Announcing their first foray into the studio in 35 years, ABBA said in their initial statement:

“We all four felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio. So we did. And it was like time had stood still and that we only had been away on a short holiday. An extremely joyful experience!”

About the decision to go ahead with the ABBA avatar tour, in which all the members will appear as their younger selves, they said the following.

“We are exploring a new technological world, with Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence at the forefront, that will allow us to create new forms of entertainment and content we couldn’t have previously imagined.”
Andersson added: “We’re inspired by the limitless possibilities of what the future holds and are loving being a part of creating something new and dramatic here. A time machine that captures the essence of who we were. And are.”

ABBA are one of the most successful pop groups ever in the UK, producing 9 Number 1 singles and 9 Number 1 albums across their career. Their greatest hits collection ABBA Gold is one of the biggest selling albums of all time in the UK.

Gorillaz Release New Song ‘PAC-MAN’ Featuring ScHoolboy Q

23rd July 2020 | Category: Concerts

Gorillaz have shared their latest song called “PAC-MAN”. The song was recorded in London prior to the COVID-19 pandemic,

It features rapper ScHoolboy Q and was co-produced with Prince Paul and Remi Kabaka Jr.

The track is part of the Song Machine series, consisting of singles and music videos. It presents itself as a collection of singles and music videos, dubbed “episodes” each featuring previously unannounced guests.

The series started in January this year with “Momentary Bliss,” with Slowthai and Slaves; then there was “Désolé,” with Fatoumata Diawar; “Aries,” with Peter Hook and Georgia; and “Friday 13th,” with Octavian.

“Song Machine is a whole new way of doing what we do,” said Gorillaz drummer Russel in a statement.

“Gorillaz breaking the mould ’cos the mould got old. World is moving faster than a supercharged particle, so we’ve gotta stay ready to drop. We don’t even know who’s stepping through the studio next. Song Machine feeds on the unknown, runs on pure chaos. So whatever the hell’s coming, we’re primed and ready to produce like there’s no tomorrow. Y’know, just in case….”

The series Season One of Song Machine is set to consist of 10 episodes and will be released as a compilation titled Almanac in October 2020.

Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett will publish the band’s first-ever Gorillaz Almanac to look back at their visual history, as a celebration of their 20th anniversary.

“Twenty years of drawing the same characters, you can’t avoid change; I think I tried to draw more realism into them around the fourth album. Now I find myself looking back at the original style, which reminds me of Seventies Hanna-Barbera cartoons that I grew up on,” Hewlett told Rolling Stone in May.

“Ultimately, I would love to create an animation style as good as Chuck Jones’ style during the late Seventies. Also, I can afford to buy better pens now.”

Gorillaz released albums Humanz in 2017 and The Now Now, which is their latest album, in 2018.

Bikini Kill Announce New Tour Dates

17th July 2020 | Category: Concerts

Bikini Kill have announced the rescheduled dates for their 2020 tour, which had to be postponed due to COVID-19.

The band’s international tour, was supposed to begin this past March, right as the pandemic was taking hold in the United States.

Announcing the cancellation of their US and Canada headline tour, they said:

“We take the health and safety of our supporters, crew and opening bands very seriously, and given the situation in Seattle as well as the lack of information about the actual infection rate of the surrounding areas, it doesn’t make sense for us to go forward with any of the shows in the region.”

Their tour will, however, resume in May 2021. The new tour includes nine dates in Europe and the United Kingdom.

“Our 2020 tour dates have been moved to 2021! We’re also adding shows in Brussels, Paris, Glasgow, and London,” they wrote on Twitter.

After that, the band will be going back to touring North America, starting with a show at Burger Boogaloo festival in Oakland, CA and from there going to Olympia, WA, Victoria, BC,

Portland, OR, Seattle, WA and more. The trek will then stretch through the fall, wrapping November 20th at Iron City in Birmingham, Alabama.

Original tickets will be honored at the rescheduled dates, although refunds will be available for those unable to attend.

These will be Bikini Kill’s first full shows since the band broke up in 1997. The feminist punkers reunited for a short tour in 2019, marking their first shows together since the split. The touring band boasts the original lineup of Kathleen Hanna, Tobi Vail, and Kathi Wilcox, with Erica Dawn Lyle providing additional guitar.

Maroon 5 Announce Rescheduled 2021 Tour Dates

16th July 2020 | Category: Concerts

Maroon 5 have rescheduled their previously postponed 2020 tour dates for next summer.

The outing, which was supposed to kick off in May, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now it will launch on July 15th, 2021 at the Island Credit Union Amphitheater in Chula Vista, California. The 41-date run will end a couple of months later, on October 2nd, at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.

Leon Bridges and Meghan Trainor were set to open for Maroon 5 on their tour this year, however, at the moment it’s not clear if they’re still scheduled to give support next year.

Though almost all of Maroon 5’s 2020 dates were rescheduled, the band did have to cancel gigs in Hartford, Connecticut and Flushing, New York. In place of the Flushing gig, the group has added a new show at Madison Square Garden in New York City for September 10th, 2021.

Tickets for that show will go on sale July 24th at 10 a.m. local time; those with tickets to the original Flushing concert, per a press release, will receive an e-mail “with an opportunity for a pre-sale for the MSG show, or a refund.”

Tickets for all the rescheduled 2020 shows will be honored at the new dates.

In other news, Mickey Madden, the band’s co-founder and bassist has decided to take a leave of absence from the band, weeks after his arrest for alleged domestic violence.

“I have some things that I need to deal with and address right now and so I have decided to leave Maroon 5,” Madden said in a statement to Rolling Stone.

“During this time, I do not want to be a distraction to my bandmates. I wish them the absolute best.”
