Disturbed Are Working On New Music During Lockdown

25th June 2020 | Category: Concerts

As many people are in quarantine, they now have more time on their hands, so it’s no surprise that a lot of musicians have been working on new music from home.

David Draiman says Disturbed are amongst those artists, and their new music is “in its infancy.”

Draiman announced the news during a video chat with Download Festival TV. The singer has spent a large part of his time homeschooling his son throughout the pandemic, but confirmed that he’s been writing and making new music with the rest of the band as well.

“The rest of the time, I’m just messing around a little bit with music here and there. Nothing crazy,” he said.

“We’ve got some stuff in its infancy. One song, definitely, that’s killer in our back pocket, we just haven’t tracked it. And we’ve got a few more song ideas, nothing that’s been hashed out enough.”

Making music through video chat services like Zoom, however, hasn’t been the most ideal situation, according to the frontman.

“At least it’s some kind of real-time connection so that you can be creating together improvisationally to an extent, but there’s still issues with audio — it’s not as clear as you want it sometimes, there’s too much compression and you lose level,” he explained.

“It’s a challenge, and the vibe isn’t there. There’s nothing that replaces you being in front of your co-songwriter and being able to feed off each other’s energy and create in person.”

Disturbed were set to head out on tour with Staind and Bad Wolves in support of The Sickness’ 20th anniversary, but that was postponed until 2021 due to Covid-19.

The band has also revealed their rescheduled dates for their North American tour. They’ve moved the shows to 2021 and will still be joined on the road by the two previously mentioned bands.

Tickets previously purchased for the original dates will be valid for the new shows. However, if you still don’t have your ticket, you can get it here.

Haim Share New Song ‘Gasoline’

19th June 2020 | Category: Concerts

Haim have revealed yet another track from their upcoming album, ‘Women in Music Pt. III’, which will be out next week.

The album was initially set for release on April 24, 2020 but was delayed due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and “the changing nature of travel policies and quarantines across the world.” The album’s release was later moved to June 26.

“We can’t wait to reschedule everything we had in mind for you all, and we can’t wait to see all of you on the road when it’s 100 percent safe to do so,” the band stated at the time.

“In the meantime, we are gonna be dropping some new tunes.” And they’ve stuck to this promise.

Recently, on Haim’s official Instagram, they’ve posted a version of the new song titled “Gasoline”, which was performed at home.

“miss playing for you guys. here’s a new song ‘gasoline’,” the caption for the clip read.

So far, they’ve released “Don’t Wanna,” “I Know Alone” “Summer Girl,” “Hallelujah” and “The Steps” from the album.

They’ve found creative ways to keep connected to dedicated HAIM fans during these times – by teaching virtual dance classes.

“I think doing stuff like that has actually been really nice,” Este Haim said.

“It’s also been really fun to come up with different ways, and different things to do during quarantine too. Like, doing live sessions, or doing a guitar tutorial. That’s our blueprint, is just trying to stay creative also. But we’re just excited for people to hear the record.”

Before isolating themselves in their homes because of the global pandemic, Haim sisters were nearly halfway through a run of intimate gigs in delis across America when they’ve postponed the tour.

However, when everything goes to normal we expect some good shows from them. And you will be able to find tickets for them at this link.

Orville Peck Delays The Release of ‘Show Pony’ EP In Support of BLM Movement

18th June 2020 | Category: Concerts

Artist/songwriter Orville Peck has postponed the release of his upcoming ‘Show Pony’ EP which was due to be released on June 12. The reason was to keep the focus on the Black Lives Matter movement.

“We’re undergoing a huge overdue worldwide transformation thanks to the Black Lives Matter movement and that is mainly what I want to put my focus on at the moment,” he wrote on his Instagram.

“The momentum is currently so strong, and it needs to keep going in order to dismantle the injustices of oppression, so if your voice hasn’t been heard yet just use it, or walk out and hear the protesters, and if you’re scared, tell them Orville sent you!

The masked musician also revealed he had raised “close to $37,000” to support the black community.

Last week, thanks to the help of some lovely people we raised close to $37k, and this week I’ll be performing a little surprise from the EP at @wynwoodpride where we’re hoping to raise $100k. Lots of great performers, so if you guys like what you see, remember to tip- and y’all, even if you can’t tip, watching to actively educate yourself is also a win for everyone. Love you all for being kind people and I can’t wait for you to hear the album – but lets use this month to get our shit in order because this is only the start of the marathon for equality.”

Orville Peck’s new EP will feature six songs, including a Shania Twain duet and a Bobbie Gentry cover.

Peck released its first track, “Summertime,” on April 1, and has also its second track, “No Glory in the West,” on May 29, as well.

The self-produced six-track EP is an evolution of Peck’s debut album Pony, about which the musician said the following

“I loved my experience with [my debut album], Pony. However, Show Pony is a more confident perspective and allows me to share even more both lyrically and musically.

Like all country albums, Show Pony is a little collection of stories — some sad, some happy — and I am excited for people to hear it.”

In the meantime, you will be able to get tickets for the upcoming Orville Peck shows here.

Ariana Grande, Halsey & More Join Protests Over George Floyd’s Death

11th June 2020 | Category: Concerts

As the protests following the death of George Floyd continue across the US and the world, celebrities are using their platforms to speak out in their support. However, while some of them have taken to social media to express their pain, frustration, and support, others are taking it to the streets.

One of them was singer Ariana Grande who left quarantine to join a Black Lives Matter protest in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood on Saturday to advocate for an end to racial violence and police brutality. She carried a sign reading “Black lives matter.”

On her twitter, she asked the media not to ignore the peaceful protests happening in the city. “Hours and miles of peaceful protesting yesterday that got little to no coverage. all throughout Beverly Hills and West Hollywood,” she wrote, sharing along the photos of the protests.

“We chanted, people beeped and cheered along. We were passionate, we were loud, we were loving. Cover this too please.”

Grande also implored her followers to vote, sign petitions, and donate to bail funds.

“Please keep signing these petitions, making donations, having conversations w family and friends about it, reading and sharing links and resources… gentle reminder that this doesn’t end today or tomorrow or after you post about it once,” she wrote.

Similarly, signer-songwriter Halsey shared her experience during the protests in LA.

“I dont know how to articulate the horrors of today. NG + officers firing rounds into kneeling crowds. We dont have enough medics on the ground on our side. I was treating injuries I am not qualified to. So much blood spilled. If you have med training pls go + standby outskirts.

Other artists who posted about participating in events across the country include Nick Cannon, Kehlani, Tinashe, Machine Gun Kelly, Yungblud, and many more.
