BLACKPINK and Lady Gaga’s ‘Sour Candy’ Breaks Records After Release

6th June 2020 | Category: Concerts

Upon the release on May 28th, BLACKPINK and Lady Gaga’s ‘Sour Candy’ “shattered” streaming records, according to Forbes.

The song debuted on Spotify at the sixth spot in the Global streams and 12th in the United States with over 3.67 million and 757,000 streams, respectively.

Moreover, ‘Sour Candy’ had reportedly reached the top spot on iTunes in 52 countries.

Though it was released without an official music video, the audio-video performed exceptionally on YouTube, reaching over 21.8 million views within its first 24 hours.

The figures also show that BLACKPINK and Lady Gaga broke the YouTube record for the “biggest debut” for an all-female collaboration. Before it, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and Lana Del Rey’s ‘Don’t Call Me Angel’ off the Charlie’s Angels soundtrack held the record on the platform.

Meanwhile, on Billboard, on all-genre Digital Song Sales listing the song got #25 spot and on the Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Songs Chart it earned #3 place.

“Sour Candy” also arrived at #8 on the all-encompassing Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Chart. That chart accounts for radioactivity in addition to sales and streaming numbers.

Over the last three years, Blackpink, which consists of members Jennie, Lisa, Rosé and Jisoo, has become a global phenomenon. The girl group has been dominating major music charts in South Korea, as well as the US. Some of their mega-hit tracks include Kill This Love, DDU-DU-DDU-DU, BOOMBAYAH, Forever Young, and Don’t Know What To Do.

They earned their first Top 40 entry on the Billboard 200 in 2018 with the Square Up EP. DDU-DU-DDU-DU, which was also dropped in 2018, became the girl group’s first Hot 100 entry. It featured art No. 55 on the list and ended up surpassing 1 billion music video views.

Last year, Blackpink made even greater leap on the Billboard charts, reaching No. 24 on the Billboard 200 with their Kill this Love EP and No. 41 on the Hot 100 with the title track.

One week after the release of Kill this Love, Blackpink made their U.S. live debut with a greatly received Coachella set, solidifying their status as global superstars.

Britney Spears Releases Her First ‘New’ Song in Four Years

2nd June 2020 | Category: Concerts

Britney Spears has rereleased a song that was previously unavailable to most fans, “Mood Ring (By Demand)”. This makes it her first “new” single in four years.

“Mood Ring” originally appeared on the Japanese deluxe version of Spears’s 2016 album Glory

Then, it received positive reviews from critics and reached No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart.

However, thanks to the efforts of her fans, the album hit the top of the iTunes Pop Charts in early May.

As a thank you for their dedication, Spears rereleased the album with brand new cover art, as well as the addition of “Mood Ring.”

“Repurposed this since we didn’t use it:

You folks wanted a new album cover ….. ta da there you go!!!!” Spears tweeted. “What was requested next is out now….. I hope you turn #MoodRing up sooooooo loud.”

Mood Ring co-writers Melanie Fontana and Jon Asher admitted they were shocked that the song has topped the charts four years after the album was released.

Fontana told Billboard: “As I awoke to Britney’s Mood Ring being No. 1, I was instantly catapulted backwards in my mind, landing in the middle of my childhood bedroom, watching the little version of me sitting on a carpeted floor covered in unfolded album inserts, my old Sony headphones on, researching all the names behind the artists I love.”

Asher added: “I had literal tears and chills when I found out! The success of Mood Ring is truly a grassroots effort on behalf of the Britney Army and fans across the world.

They gave this song the breath of life and took it to where it is right now.”

Recently Spears also celebrated 20 years of her hit album Oops!… I Did It Again, and she has thanked her fans for sticking with her.

The legendary album was released on May 16, 2000 and it held the record for 15 years for the biggest sales week ever for an album by a female artist.

Lady Gaga’s Drops New Album ‘Chromatica’ With Features from Elton John, Ariana Grande and BLACKPINK

29th May 2020 | Category: Concerts

Lady Gaga has just released her sixth studio album, ‘Chromatica’, featuring production by BloodPop and Max Martin, as well as collaborations with Ariana Grande, Sir Elton John and BLACKPINK

The album is the artist’s first since her 2016 LP ‘Joanne’.

It was originally set for release on April 10 but that release date was pushed back due to the coronavirus outbreak.

“I will do whatever it takes to make the world dance and smile,” she told Paper magazine in March.

“I want to put out a record that forces people to rejoice even in their saddest moments. And by the way, I’m not standing over here with a flag going, ‘I’m all healed, everything’s perfect.’ It’s not; it’s a fight all the time. I still work on myself constantly. I have bad days, I have good days. Yeah, I live in Chromatica, it took a minute to get here, but that doesn’t mean I don’t remember what happened. So if you’re in pain and listening to this music, just know that I know what it’s like to be in pain. And I know what it’s like to also not let it ruin your life.”

And that message is present in the tracks like ‘Stupid Love’, and ‘Rain On Me’ (a collaboration with Ariana Grande) she released prior to the whole album.

The 16-track album also includes perhaps an unexpected collaboration between the singer and Elton John ‘Sine From Above”, as well as the one with K-pop group BLACKPINK, ‘Sour Candy.

Gaga’s ‘Chromatica Ball’ tour — which plans to visit London for a show at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in July — is still happening.

“I also definitely plan to see you on the road for my CHROMATICA BALL tour this summer!” the singer told fans in an Instagram post back in March.

You will be able to find the tickets for it here.

Ellie Goulding Announces Double-sided New Album ‘Brightest Blue’

28th May 2020 | Category: Concerts

Ellie Goulding has revealed that soon she will be releasing her fourth album, ‘Brightest Blue’. The new album is scheduled to come out on July 17th via Interscope Records.

The 18-track LP will have two sides, “Brightest Blue” and “EG.0”. It features a collaboration with late Juice WRLD, with which Goulding also worked with on the single ‘Hate Me’, released June 2019. Among other collaborators are Diplo, Lauv, Swae Lee, serpentwithfeet, and blackbear.

The five-track second half, “EG.0,” is where most of these collaborative tracks appear.

Speaking of it, Goulding says it encapsulates her “confident, brave and fearless side and features all my recent collaborations.

I often find myself writing about my thoughts and emotions in a way that I know will be catchy and memorable. I will always seek to use my voice in ways that no one would ever expect and look to collaborate with the least likely, exciting and eclectic group of other artists.”

Meanwhile, The album’s first half she says “reflects my vulnerability… it acknowledges a complex world where relationships still dictate our happiness and heartbreak and can still be the most painful thing in the world, no matter how enlightened you are,” Goulding adds.

“The tracks also symbolize growing up and becoming a woman.”

Also, the newly released single “Power”, will be on the upcoming album.

Last week, Goulding released the self-directed music video for it which she filmed while in lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Goulding recently joined Sigrid, Dua Lipa, Royal Blood, Biffy Clyro, AJ Tracey, Sean Paul, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, and many others for a performance of Foo Fighters’ “Times Like These,” for a charity show earlier this year.

The UK singer-songwriter last released a full-length studio album in 2015, with ‘Delirium’.

The tickets for any of Goulding’s future shows will be available here.
