In addition to this post, the Canadian pop star added another message to his fans saying:

The events around the world are still getting canceled due to coronavirus pandemic. One of them was the Glastonbury Music Festival.

This week, another festival has been dropped and it’s Isle of Wight Festival.

The music event will not go ahead this year due to COVID-19. It was scheduled to take place between June 11-14th, 2020 at Seaclose Park in Newport.

Among its headliners were with Lionel Richie, Duran Duran, Snow Patrol, Lewis Capaldi, and more.

With Britain now in lockdown mode as coronavirus continues to spread the globe, this year’s event will no longer take place.

“This decision hasn’t been taken lightly and we have tried our hardest to make it work, but it was unavoidable given the current status,” reads a statement from organizers.

“The safety of our audience, artists, crew and the Isle of Wight community is paramount and we appreciate your patience whilst we’ve been working through this unprecedented situation.”

Ticket holders don’t need to worry, they are entitled to refunds or the opportunity to rollover their tickets to next year.

“We are working closely with our ticketing partners at the moment and they will be in touch very soon to process your refund, or, if you prefer, you can retain your ticket and carry it over to next year.”

They will be contacted via email from them very soon and should only contact them if they have not been contacted after 5 days, as they are very busy at this time.

IOW promises it will be back stronger than ever next year.

“We hope everyone stays safe and we’ll see you in 2021.”

The Isle of Wight first hosted a major festival back in 1968. By the time the third edition rolled around, in 1970, more than 500,000 people came out to see the lineup, which included Jimi Hendrix and the Doors. The festival wasn’t active for decades until British promoter John Giddings revived it in 2002.

Coronavirus is Prompting Musicians To Organize Virtual Concerts and Live Streams

24th March 2020 | Category: Concerts

The Coronavirus pandemic is continuing to unfold all around the world.

Many people are in self-isolation, as it’s important to stay home in order to prevent the further spread of the virus.

Recently many concerts and festivals have been either canceled or postponed over the same reason.

That’s why Global Citizen decided to organize Virtual concerts and raising money for the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

The organizers said that their ‘Together At Home’ series on Instagram Live aims “to ease people’s minds, and bring them joy and a sense of shared humanity as public shutdowns and social distancing take effect globally”.

Since the last week when it was launched, the series has featured virtual concerts by Chris Martin, John Legend, Charlie Puth, Niall Horan, Hozier, and OneRepublic

During Friday’s live stream, the lead vocalist of One Republic, Ryan Tedder urged people to take meaningful action, practice social distancing and said;

“We haven’t seen anything like this in our lifetimes,” he said. “It’s going to take all of us.”

However, there is hope that the online shows will provide some entertainment and joy during the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Multiple other artists have joined the action. They are using the power of technology and the internet to connect with their fans and bring light to this dark situation.

One of the recent Together at House (#togetherathome) live performance was put on by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.

Mendes played his acoustic guitar, whereas the couple sang in good harmony and they carried out their hit song “Señorita.”

You can watch the virtual concerts each evening on Instagram Live @glblctzn.

And if you want to join the global fight to stop the spread of coronavirus, and are able to do so, donate to the WHO’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

Glastonbury Music Festival Cancelled due to Coronavirus Pandemic

19th March 2020 | Category: Concerts

Festival organizers Michael and Emily Eavis have confirmed that Glastonbury Music Festival is canceled this year.

The 2020 event that was to feature Paul McCartneyTaylor Swift, and Kendrick Lamar will no longer take place, because of the concerns and government orders over the coronavirus outbreak.

The event was set to take place from June 24-28 at Worthy Farm in Somerset. The official statement said that 2020 would be “an enforced fallow year”.

“Clearly this was not a course of action we hoped to take for our 50th anniversary event, but following the new government measures announced this week – and in times of such unprecedented uncertainty – this is now our only viable option,” the organizers said.

Even though they hoped the situation in the UK would have improved by the end of June, it isn’t possible to spend the next three months with thousands of crew on the farm.

“We were so looking forward to welcoming you all for our 50th anniversary with a lineup full of fantastic artists and performers that we were incredibly proud to have booked.

Again, we’re so sorry that this decision has been made. It was not through choice,” they said.

As for the tickets that have been bought for this year, they will roll over to next year.

“Ticket-holders will have the chance to roll their £50 deposit over to next year and guarantee the opportunity to buy a ticket for Glastonbury 2021, while those who want a refund can apply for one.

Further information on coach packages, official accommodation bookings and other tickets will be added to the festival’s website in the next few days.”

Glastonbury Festival has become the largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world.

Since its humble beginnings as a gathering of 1,500 people in September 1970, it has developed into an event with more than 200,000 attendees.

This year was supposed to be its 50th anniversary.

Glastonbury isn’t the only festival that’s been canceled or rescheduled as a result of the Covid-19 virus outbreak. So far, other major festivals also had to close its gates, for now. One of these is Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Bonnaroo, which have been postponed to later this year.

If you have bought tickets to any of these festivals, make sure to follow the instructions of the festivals’ official sites to find out what you can do with them.
