Wu-Tang Clan to Replace Die Antwoord at Riot Fest 2019 Lineup

22nd August 2019 | Category: Concerts

Big news coming up from the Riot Fest organizers, confirming that Wu-Tang Clan will be performing at this year’s edition of the festival.

The iconic hip-hop group will hit the stage on Saturday, September 14 in Douglas Park, Chicago. If you want to see them perform, click right here to acquire your tickets.

Wu-Tang Clan join the already formidable lineup of this fest which includes the likes of Blink-182, The Flaming Lips, Jawbreaker, Slayer, Rise Against, Bikini Kill, Ween and many others.

The three-day happening will celebrate its 15th anniversary and the organizers are now ecstatic to welcome the 2017 alumni who brought a memorable performance three years ago.

Wu-Tang Clan are replacing Die Antwoord who have been removed from the lineup after a video surfaced of the group members using homophobic slurs in 2012. Namely, the video shows band member Ninja in a physical confrontation with Andy Butler from Hercules and Love Affair. Also in the video, another Wu-Tang Clan member ¥o-landi can be heard using a homophobic slur several times during the altercation.

The band has since explained that the altercation which occurred in Australia was not a hate crime.

“This fight had nothing to with the fact that this guy was gay. We dont care about people’s sexual preference. Our DJ and best friend DJ HITEK is gay, and alot of people in our crew are gay,” the statement said.

However, in addition to Riot Fest, Die Antwoord have also been dropped from the 2019 edition of the Louder Than Life festival.

Janet Jackson, Black Eyed Peas And More Will Lead The Australia’s RNB Fridays Lineup

13th August 2019 | Category: Concerts

Heading to Australia for the first time in eight years, Janet Jackson has been revealed as this year’s headliner for RNB Fridays 2019.

Other fellow hip hop artists that are scheduled to join Jackson in leading the lineup for Australia’s biggest party are Black Eyed Peas, 50 Cent, Jason Derulo.

The lineup of the fourth annual celebration of hip-hop and urban music which takes place across Australia and New Zealand this November will host other prominent artists such as Keri Hilson, Sisqo, J-Kwon, and an unidentified “mystery artist”, with Fatman Scoop returning as emcee.

The day-long experience will visit all five of Australia’s largest cities, opening November 8th at Perth’s HBF Park, then on to Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, Adelaide Showgrounds, Brisbane Showgrounds and Sydney’s Giants Stadium on November 16th.

The event is presented by Illusive Presents and Frontier Touring (both part of the Mushroom Group) plus Hit Network and they promise that this edition will be the biggest one yet. The production has seen huge growth since its inaugural year in 2016, and now, organizers have big plans to take the brand even further.

The plans discussed all focus on taking the event and concept into further international markets in 2020 and beyond. This means that we might soon see the launch of a number of events next year in the U.K and Europe, as well as “potentially some Asian” territories, according to Matt Gudinski, Illusive Presents co-founder.

The event has become so popular that in 2018 it was the biggest touring festival in Australia. It followed a similar trajectory in New Zealand.

With big plans on the horizon, the event might take over more international markets in the near future.

Tyler, The Creator Will Return To New Zealand After an Eight-Year Ban

9th August 2019 | Category: Concerts

After an eight-year ban Tyler, The Creator will return to New Zealand to headline Bay Dreams festival.

Tyler, The Creator is now finally free to visit New Zealand, eight years after he and his former Odd Future bandmates were controversially banned by immigration authorities.

The IGOR rapper was first banned from entering the country back in 2014 due to controversy over his group Odd Future’s lyrical content. The country’s immigration department infamously deemed the group a “threat to public order”, thus making them miss their slot at Rapture Festival alongside Eminem.

Tyler and five other six group members were reportedly declined visas due to a 2011 incident in Boston in which some of the witnesses claimed that the group members incited fans to attack police officers.

The artist will make a return to New Zealand in January, where he is slated to perform at the annual music festival Bay Dreams, alongside Skepta, Halsey, Netsky, Yelawolf and Sub Focus. It will be his first gig and appearance in the country in eight years.

New Zealand immigration has cleared the rappers flying visit and declared that he “is no longer deemed to be a potential threat to public order and the public interest.” It was reported that his visa is “currently being processed”.

This decision follows the U.K.’s Home Office lifting Tyler’s four-year ban on entering the country back in May.

Tyler is currently set to kick off his U.S. IGOR Tour on August 30th. Click on the link right here, and secure your tickets on time.
