The NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball tournament is one of the biggest sporting events in the United States and in the sport of basketball itself, aside from the obvious strong contender in the NBA League that caters to a professional audience. Ticket Sales for NCAA events, particularly the Division 1 Men’s Basketball are considered hot necessities in the college world which is seemingly almost fuelled by the success and progression of their sporting teams. Tournament tickets are also divided amongst the fans, allowing only 30% of the general public access whilst the remaining 70% are divided amongst the final four schools with discounts. These divisions include 25% for ID-only student sections, 15% to division 1 institutions and coaches, 10% to host cities, 10% to NCAA committees, 5% to broadcast and corporate partners and the final 5% to NCAA luxury hospitality packages.
Tournaments in particular related to NCAA division one events are sought after and can reach prices of over $200 a piece, with stocks running down faster. Strong performances by teams featured in the event can also boost the sale price of their tickets, where matches between the top two teams (such as Syracuse and Ohio State) fetching an average price of around $441.
There are a number of tournament matches yet to be played within the East and South brackets of the sport and tickets are slowly fading away. Despite the seemingly phenomenal prices, it is without a doubt money worth spent.
