On November 14, 2009, the MGM Grand in Las Vegas is hosting the most talked about and anxiously awaited event in years. The boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Angel Cotto promises to be one for the record books.
Manny Pacquiao from the Philippines has a 49-3-2 record. Up against the Puerto Rican boxing legend Cotto whose record of 34-1 is nothing to sneeze at, Pacquiao is sure to have his job cut out for him. Cotto currently holds the welterweight championship title and has a catch weight of 145 lbs.
Boxing fans around the world are sure to get their tickets early for this event, which will be held live on Saturday the 14th of November.
Considering that Cotto is just recovering from a bloody match that he ultimately won against Joshua Clottey in June 2009, Pacquiao looks to be the favorite. This however, does not mean that the boxing gods won’t smile in Cotto’s favor. Pacquiao has the speed advantage in the ring while Cotto is a slight larger giving him the size advantage. No matter who wins or loses, this is sure to be a fight that boxing fans won’t forget soon. Not since De La Hoya and Manny has an event this exciting been booked. Those living in or near Las Vegas, Nevada have definitely got the edge. They are sure to hear the ground breaking explosion of the match in real time.
Remember that it does not matter who wins or loses, it is how you play the game. This is sure to be a game that everyone enjoys watching. This match is looking to be the event of the year and those with tickets will likely tell you that it is the best money they have spent thus far. Boxing fans are advised to get tickets now to avoid seeing the sold out signs that are sure to be posted for this major event.
Live from Las Vegas, under the tutelage of Floyd Mayweather Sr, who trains Hatton in Manchester, Hatton says he’s progressed dramatically, and Sporting Life of the UK says that Hatton boasts that Manny is in for a real shock the night of the fight. Pacquiao says he’s a whole different fighter than he was, “faster, stronger and more tactical.”
The Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, which is currently hosting the training of Pacquiao is silent, apparently Manny isn’t ready to boast on his skills yet, but according to those in the know, it’s just his second week for taking part in training and he’s got some fantastic form, and apparently knocked down his sparring partner, Art Hovhannesyan in the second round of play, causing an upper eyelid cut in the fourth round on Wednesday.
His strength and conditioning trainer, Alex Ariza said to ABS-CBNm, that he is going to shock everybody at how strong he is at 140 pounds.”
If we run over and ask Pacquiao, however, he’s pretty well convinced that his speed is whats going to gain him the victory in the head to head with Hatton but Pacquiao does add, humbly we think, that there’s a great deal more he needs to do before he thinks hes in tip top shape?
And what do YOU think? We personally think its well worth your time to get your tickets early for the Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton bout in Vegas. When they’re gone, they’re gone.
Oscar De La Hoya was just six years old when he first began to box. “My brother, Joel Jr., put a pair on me and the other pair on one of my cousins,” Oscar recalled.
De La Hoya never pictured himself becoming a fighter. He was always found in the park playing baseball with the other kids.
His first true test of the power in his left hand came in the ’92 Olympics.
He had promised an ill mother, Cecilia, that he would bring back home the gold medal from those Olympics and in his mind there was no question of failing to keep that promise.
He did so, dominating the entire match, in what was the most emotion filled moment of those Olympics.
De La Hoya’s amateur boxing career holds an amazing 223 wins, with 163 knockouts.
Now you have a chance to witness history as De La Hoya fights in what has been billed as the Dream Match.
This ten time world champion will face down MANNY “Pacman” PACQUIAO on Saturday, December 6 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Imagine it!!! Fabulous Las Vegas and De La Hoya too.
