Celebrity Autobiography Arrives on Broadway
The long-running event featuring performers reading excerpts from star’s autobiographies arrived on Broadway for the very first time on 26 November.
Before it closes, the talent-packed rotating cast will play two more additional performances at the Marquis Theatre on 10 and 17 December so hurry up and buy your tickets on this link here.
This amazing show – described as the funniest show in town by New York Post – was created by Emmy-nominated writer and performer Eugene Pack together with Dayle Reyfel.
Celebrity Autobiography is the award-winning hit comedy where celebrities act out other celebrities’ memoirs. With rotating cast members and ever-changing material from the actual memoirs of celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor, Debbie Reynolds, Eddie Fisher and Richard Burton, you will never see the same show twice since each show has new and unforgettable surprises. From music, food, fitness and poetry to love triangles, politics and sports, the show covers all topics in a fun and entertaining manner.
The premiere night included some amazing performers like Tate Donovan, Matthew Broderick, Lewis Black and Cecily Strong. The performance on 10 December will include Alec Baldwin, Mario Cantone, Ratchel Dratch, Susan Lucci and Tony Danza among others while the lineup for the performance on 17 December is susceptible to change. The teaming of Baldwin, Strong and Dratch reunites the Saturday Night Live players.
Most recently starring in the Netflix series, The Good Cop, Tony Danza has been one of the world’s most beloved and iconic entertainers for over 40 years.
Perhaps best known for his starring roles on two of television’s most cherished and long-running series, Taxi and Who’s The Boss, Tony has also starred in various movies. Well established as a song and dance man, Tony often tours with his hit live show, Standards & Stories. Most recently, Tony received rave reviews for his performance in the Broadway musical comedy, Honeymoon In Vegas, with the New York Times calling his performance “sly genius,” and a “career high”.
The show first took the stage in Los Angeles in 1998 but became popular in 2005 via a television special on Bravo.
It was mounted off-Broadway at the Triad in 2008 and appears there on regular basis since. Various productions of Celebrity Autobiography have played at London’s West End, Edinburgh, and Australia’s Sydney Opera House over the past 10 years. After a decade of playing Off-Broadway and across the globe, the show finally conquers Broadway.
