Hit Comedy The Nap Premieres on Broadway
Hilarious comedy The Nap premiered on Broadway on 5 September and the reviews are, in a word, fantastic.
If you are up to for a big laugh, don’t miss this amazing new, authentic show by Olivier nominee, Richard Bean, in a production from MTC and buy your tickets here.
The Broadway previews started on 5 September at Samuel J. Friedman Theatre and after it officially opens on 27 September, the show is on the repertoire almost every night until 11 November. This is a new play by Richard Bean, the author of rollicking, award-winning Broadway comedy One Man, Two Guvnors. The Nap represents a very comedic look at the world of snooker.
Dylan is a fast-rising star in this British version of pool. He enters a championship tournament but is very quickly warned about the math fixing. Ex-convict dad, saucy mum, quick-tongued manager and a renowned gangster quickly pool him into their own dealings of match-fixing and the play is more about the characters than the game itself.
The cast is magnificent and will make you laugh so hard until you burst to tears.
The cast of The Nap is made up of Alexandra Billings, best known for Transparent and Goliath, Tony Award nominee John Ellison Conlee, two-time Tony Award nominee Johanna Day, four-time and 2018 United States National Snooker Champion Ahmed Aly Elsayed, Ben Schnetzer, Heather Lind, Max Gordon Moore, Bhavesh Patel and Thomas Jay Ryan.
The creative team for the production includes David Rockwell (scenic design), Kaye Voyce (costume design), Justin Townsend (lighting design), Lindsay Jones (original music and sound design), Anne Ford-Coates (hair and make-up design), Ben Furey (dialect coach), and Thomas Schall (fight director).
Once it was out, The Guardian raved, “Ingenious,” The Observer cheered, “Outrageously funny,” and The Daily Mail called The Nap “brilliant and terrifically inventive.” What more do you need from a play? Enjoy this smart and witted play with eccentric characters and comments. Tickets for all dates can be found here.
